Let the speculation begin!
Just hours after Jim Tressel resigned as Ohio State’s head football coach, Bodog.eu — formerly Bodog.com — released odds on the next Buckeyes coach. Not surprisingly, the discussion will begin with Urban Meyer, who Bodog lists as a 3/2 favorite.
Here are the odds, courtesy of Bodog:
There’s a few interesting names on the list, for sure, and my guess is that many bettors will be performing a Google search on Mark Stoops soon enough. Many more will assume Bodog made a typo. (In case you are unaware, Mark Stoops, brother of Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, is the defensive coordinator at Florida State.)
Jon Gruden would be an interesting hire and surely he’ll find a way to get his name involved. I can’t see Ohio State expressing serious interest in Mark Dantonio, though at 12-to-1 he could be a good darkhorse candidate.
The name that most intrigues me? Bo Pelini.
That would be an unusual, uncomfortable welcome to the Big Ten.
