The CEO of a downtown Las Vegas casino was so disgusted by the final play of the Packers/Seahawks game on Monday night that he has decided to refund all losing wagers.
“I just can’t imagine a worse outcome than what occurred Monday night,” said Derek Stevens, who owns The D (formerly Fitzgerald’s). “I’m so disgusted that we are going to refund every bet made on the Packers at the D. I know exactly how it would feel if I was laying the number and I saw what happened.
“The NFL has been great for Las Vegas over the last 30 years, bringing in over 100,000 fans every weekend to support their favorite team. I fully understand the importance of the Monday Night Game to our city as well as every Packer supporter across the nation and I just can’t accept this outcome.”
The promotion is available to anyone who bet the Packers (side or moneyline), and does not include parlays, teasers, etc. Also, only bets placed at The D will be honored, and customers have until Sunday to claim their refund.
A casino spokesperson told BTB that the promotion is being paid for by the D—not the sportsbook, which is operated independently—and therefore there are no issues with the Gaming Control Board.
If you hear of any other Las Vegas-based casinos offering similar promotions, give us a shout. To this point, it seems that every other sportsbook in town is honoring the final score and ruling the game as “action,” which is exactly what you’d expect.
The Packers led 12-7 prior to the controversial final play and were 3.5-point favorites.
