San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs are at it again.

Adjusted NBA win totals are out, and San Antonio’s new number is 63.5, seven wins higher than their preseason total and far more than any other team in the league. The Heat and Thunder are the next closest, both at 59.5.

Sometimes in sports betting, we’re all guilty of overthinking it.

We spend hour after hour dissecting point spreads, identifying “hot” and “cold” teams, analyzing betting trends and monitoring player injuries, all in an effort to simply determine which teams have any betting value and which don’t.

But sometimes, the answer is sitting right in front of us.

No other team has exceeded preseason expectations over the last seven seasons better than the San Antonio Spurs, who have gone over their win total six times during that stretch, including by more than nine games in each of the past two seasons.

Will San Antonio go over its season win total for a third straight time?

There was a time in Saturday night’s game between the Thunder and Spurs when you could’ve had Oklahoma City as underdogs.

Hint: It came very early, when Kendrick Perkins (!) had attempted more shots than Kevin Durant.

History’s on one side, saying the Oklahoma City Thunder have just a 5.7 percent chance of coming back from an 0-2 deficit to beat the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.

But oddsmakers appear to be on the other, giving the Thunder slightly more hope.

There have only been eight games in the 2012 NBA Playoffs with totals set in the 200′s, and seven of those went under.

Will Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals break that trend or continue it?

History says the San Antonio Spurs have a 95 percent chance of advancing to the NBA Finals if they jump out to a 2-0 lead tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

So if you’re convinced Oklahoma City can win the series, it’s probably best to bet it now.

It’s easily the most anticipated series thus far in the NBA Playoffs, and the San Antonio Spurs — with a critical home-court advantage — are favored over the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.

But is there any value on either side at the current price?

Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs are so good that oddsmakers are having trouble catching up to their ridiculous hot streak.

Fourteen of their 17 wins have come by double digits, which has led to a fantastic ATS record over the past few weeks.

Both of the Western Conference semifinals will be playing back-to-back’s over the weekend, so here’s a look at how each of the four teams involved fared with no rest in the regular season.
