Projected Conference Standings: Could Arizona State contend for surprise Pac-12 title?

October 17, 2012

Maryland is the current leader in the ACC Atlantic Division 2-0, but the Terrapins are projected to finish with a .500 record and in fourth place out of six teams.

Elsewhere, there could be yet another tie atop the Big East standings (between three teams!), we’re looking at Michigan-Wisconsin and Alabama-Florida title games in the Big Ten and SEC, and Arizona State could perhaps compete with USC in the Pac-12 South race.

Kansas State could lose two games and still win the championship in a Big 12 conference filled with teams struggling to live up to expectations.

Using projected point spreads for the rest of the regular season and subsequent win oddsfor each game, we came up with projected standings for each conference below.
