Projected Conference Standings: Win odds say Saban, Alabama headed for perfect season

October 4, 2012

Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide have won nine straight games dating back to last season, and our updated point spread projections* say there’s a good chance that winning streak continues through the end of the regular season.

*If you’re unfamiliar with how point spreads can be converted to the percentage chance each team has of winning the game, SBR has a handy calculator that helps.

In the LVH SuperBook’s updated Games of the Year lines, Alabama is a 21-point favorite at Missouri in Week 7, an 18-point favorite at Tennessee in Week 8, a 3.5-point favorite at LSU in Week 10 and a 27.5-point favorite in the season finale against Auburn.

We went ahead and filled in the gaps for the Crimson Tide’s remaining games and came up with an implied probability of 11.52 wins. Round that up, and there’s a decent chance that Alabama finishes the regular season 12-0.

Then we did this for every other team in a BCS Conference, a time-consuming process but still interesting nonetheless.

Below are the projected standings for each conference based strictly on point spreads and subsequent win odds.
