Presidential Race odds: Democrats favored to win 5 of 6 ‘swing states’ in 2012 election

September 7, 2012

Political experts might begin taking an interest in betting soon enough.

BetOnline released Electoral College odds on Friday, offering lines for six “swing states,” including Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin.

The 2012 U.S. Presidential election is still two months away, and many states—Ohio, in particular—are still far from being decided. Nonetheless, Democrats are listed as the favorite in five of the six states being offered and are 1-to-2 favorites in four of them.

The biggest runaway: Wisconsin. Democrats are currently a -350 favorite. That’s not good for Republicans, but perhaps Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan—a Wisconsin-born Congressman—can help swing momentum.

Republicans are listed as a -220 favorite to win North Carolina.
