It’s anybody’s guess.
The AL Central and NL West races are tight, and a combined nine teams are within four games of the Wild Card in both leagues. Don’t forget: Major League Baseball expanded to a five-team playoff format in the offseason, meaning things could get awfully interesting down the stretch.
On Monday, 5Dimes sportsbook released playoff odds for teams still fighting for positioning. The teams most likely to advance are the White Sox (-510), Braves (-385), Tigers (-350), Cardinals (-310) and Giants (-265).
Things are a bit more iffy for the A’s (+250), Orioles (+200), Angels (+185), Pirates (+173), Rays (-135) and Dodgers (-155).
Based on the odds, we can reasonably expect to see the following postseason:
