NCAA Tournament ‘Bubble’ odds: Kentucky, Cal & Temple favored to go dancing; Will Terps be left out?

February 27, 2013

ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi thinks Kentucky would be in the NCAA Tournament if the season ended today.

Oddsmakers seem to agree.

On Wednesday, 5Dimes sportsbook released Big Dance “Make or Miss” odds for a handful of Bubble teams, and the defending champion Wildcats—a projected 12-seed by Lunardi—are listed at -160 to make the field.

Bubble teams likely to join them: California (-390) and Temple (-175), who are both catching fire at exactly the right time. Cal has won five straight (and seven of its last eight), while the Owls are riding a three-game win streak.

The not-so-lucky teams? Baylor (+180) and Maryland (+280). Of the two, only the Bears have a chance at a marquee regular-season win, a March 9 home game against Kansas in the finale for both teams.
