Have you thought about betting the Miami Heat to win the 2012-13 NBA title? If so, the league’s 30 general managers would probably tell you that it’s a good bet.
The annual GM’s poll was released on Monday, and 70 percent of them picked the Heat to win a second straight championship. The Los Angeles Lakers, who added Dwight Howard and Steve Nash, received 23 percent of the vote, and the Thunder—last year’s runner-up—earned seven percent of the vote.
Miami is listed at +220 to win the championship, followed by the Lakers (+300) and Thunder (+410). Most books also allow you to bet if any ONE of those three teams will win the title, and it’s listed at -350 (Yes) and +275 (No) at most books.
Elsewhere, the NBA’s GMs think …
- LeBron James is the most likely MVP. James, who is +160 favorite, received 67 percent of the vote. Kevin Durant (+350) was the second-most likely at 30 percent.
- No. 1 pick Anthony Davis is the most likely Rookie of the Year candidate. He received 77 percent of the vote. Damian Lillard, who has dazzled in the preseason, was the second pick. Davis and Lillard are +180 and +400, respectively, to win the award.
