The winner of the SEC championship game, likely to be played between top-ranked Alabama and No. 2 Florida, is guaranteed a spot in the BCS national championship game.
That much we know.
But the question over which team will occupy the second spot is a bit more complicated because there are four unbeatens ranked in the top-10 (unbeatens who very well could run the table), in addition to a handful of one-loss teams that could also sneak into the picture by season’s end.
The team that scares everybody is Oregon. There is a belief that if the Ducks (7-0) run the table and win the Pac-12 title game (likely over USC), that they’ll guarantee themselves a spot in the national title game. That isn’t good news for a team like Kansas State, which is 7-0 and a projected favorite in each of its final five games.
It’s also bad news for Notre Dame.
This morning, the LVH SuperBook released its updated Games of the Year lines. Each of Oregon’s five remaining games came with a line attached, and it confirms what we’ve suspected all along: The Ducks have a great chance of entering the Pac-12 title game with an unbeaten record.
Here are the Ducks’ remaining lined games:
- Oregon -46 vs. Colorado
- Oregon -2.5 at USC
- Oregon -17 at California
- Oregon -17 vs. Stanford
- Oregon -8 at Oregon State
Below is a full list of updated Games of the Year lines. You’ll notice that Alabama, previously an 8.5-point favorite over LSU, is now listed at -6.5. Elsewhere, Florida State is a 3.5-point favorite over Florida in the season finale at Tallahassee.
