Is Donald Trump a better businessman or sports bettor? His advice: ‘Never bet against the Patriots’

January 15, 2013

Donald Trump has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy so many times that Google will auto-fill your query if you search to find the answer. As of this posting, the number is up to four.

He filed for bankruptcy in 1991, 1992, 2004 and 2009.

Needless to say, Trump doesn’t always know a good bet when he sees one.

So, what do you think of this? …

While it’s true that you won’t get rich betting against Bill Belichick’s Patriots, they’ve been a much better regular season bet than they’ve been in the playoffs.

Even after covering as 9.5-point favorites against the Texans in the Divisional Round on Sunday, the Patriots are still just 10-12-1 ATS and 6-10-1 ATS as a favorite under Belichick in the playoffs. In two career postseason games against the Ravens, New England is 0-2 ATS, including last year’s AFC Championship game.

They lost outright as 3.5-point favorites in 2009.

New England is currently a 9-point favorite against Baltimore, and in our view, the line is a few points higher than it should be. We think the Ravens have a great chance to win the game outright, and will stick by our prediction that they advance to the Super Bowl before winning it.

For Donald’s sake, we hope he’ll only risk what he can afford to lose.
