PrintPerhaps a lot of Vegas sports bettors took Phil Steele’s prediction that Florida State would be BCS national champions to heart.
Golden Nugget released college football point spreads for 111 “Games of the Year” on Monday morning, and the most eye-catching early line moves came on the Seminoles, who went from 1-point underdogs to 2-point favorites at Virginia Tech on Nov. 8.
Florida State also moved from 8- to 9-point favorites at home against Clemson on Sept. 22, yet its Nov. 24 matchup with rival Florida moved a full point away from the Noles.
Other notable line moves, all of which took place in the first hour of action at the Golden Nugget:
- Michigan opened -3 at Ohio State, but quickly moved all the way down to a pick ‘em. The Wolverines also went from 12- to 10-point underdogs against Alabama in the season-opener.
- The Buckeyes got some more love at Penn State, where they moved from 3- to 5.5-point favorites.
- Oklahoma, an early frontrunner for the national title, moved from 6- to 5-point favorites against Texas and from 10- to 9-point favorites at TCU.
