Your thoughts on this
A few friends of mine developed a sports consulting service. It is not a tout site where locks of the weeks will be displayed. What it is, is a service to help players make the best possible plays with what lines are available to them. They are starting it out as a free service. I told them I would help them get the word out since I feel it is a pretty cool concept. The only downside is that this is not good for a player who strictly plays at online sites. Please let me know what you think.

Seems like they're just analyzing the spreads that have the largest difference between whats out at most books and what your local book is offering. That's something I think most people that bother reading this site can figure out, but I could see how it would be beneficial to someone who is not that savvy.

RE: Your thoughts on this
First, this is redundant:

Quote:Welcome to Sharp Sports Consultants, a truly one of a kind product unlike any other available in the marketplace today.

I read through the site briefly and here is my take: This will fail. It will fail because it isn't truly one of a kind and it isn't unlike any other product.

If it were free, it'd have a chance, and certainly there could be a way to monetize this service while keeping it free. But if it's a pay-for service, it will fail, without question, just like every other pay-for service out there.

Of course, that's just my opinion. But I say if it does become a pay-for service, the first paycheck should go toward developing a site that isn't hosted by GoDaddy and designed using Website Tonight.

I'll second that. The site looks "amateurish" and if they aim to charge people I'm not sure many people would be willing to hand over a credit card to a site that isn't better designed.

RE: Your thoughts on this
Honestly, it does not look good. And that's being nice..

One of my biggest beefs on my Twitter is about tout services having a piss poor blog site as their money-making machine. I'm about to launch my own blog site which is completely free, and I guarantee it looks better than 98% of the tout service sites out there..

The site is clearly taken from a blog script. The thing about developing your own website is the ability to make it unique from everything else out there. This is not unique. It's just like every other fake tout service out there, and that's NOT a good thing. People who have a brain are immediately going to dismiss it. Of course, ultimate tout sites rely on people without brains to keep them in business.. I got the impression this is not what you are striving for.

If you want to have a unique web presence, you need to invest a very small amount of money into an actual web domain, and have an actual web designer build you a good site, if you don't have anyone on your team with web designing experience.

There's a "Pro" I'm following on Twitter right now, who's unveiling a new website this week, and it looks almost just like every other crap tout pay site out there. I said almost. I say that only because he's just released a prototype of the site.. I pray the finished version is much better. If you truly want to stand out from the crowd and promote yourselves as a "service" without the monetary incentive, then be unique. Somehow. Anyhow. It's the only chance you have.
