Would like some help

I was hoping to get some help with some information for preseason. I know alot of you guys have favorite teams in the NFL and follow them closely.

I was wondering if you guys could do a little writeup on your team in terms of QB depth, RB depth and WR depth. Have you heard anything from your team about guys that are impressing that aren't big names. players you would like to see in preseason etc.

Maybe something like

QB rotation for Team A - Bob, Frank, Shawn, Carl. Shawn has been looking good in practice and the coach really wants to see him play and get reps.

RB's Mark, Eric, John, Batman - John has been explosive and could see some carries in the regular season. Eric has been hurt and we might not see much of him.

same thing for WR's.

It's hard going through all the teams in the league by Thurs and getting a great read outside of coach speak. But I know alot of you guys follow your teams closely and might know some good players that might impress in preseason.

Any help on your teams would be great

Weeden was named the Browns starter. I'm curious to see how much he plays in these first couple preseason games. Reports from camp are that his ball has a ton of zip, but his decision making is questionable. He's developing a good rapport with Greg Little, but Little struggled to get separation last year from DBs and I personally think he'll lock onto Little too much. Browns still don't have a clear WR2. One has to emerge between Josh Gordon (supplemental pick), Mohammed Massaquoi, Travis Benjamin (4th rd Miami FL), and whatever other shitstains we have in camp. Our WRs blow. I think we'll see new OC Brad Childress open it up early for Weeden and try to get the new owner and the fans excited. Benjamin and Gordon are lightning quick home run threats. Weeden has the arm to get it there.

McCoy's reportedly looked great in camp, except for his same noodle arm on 15+ throws. Have to think he'll play a lot in preseason to keep sharp.

With Hardesty and Jackson back, the Browns will be trotting out three competent RBs. In fact, they'll probably play most of the preseason downs because the Browns will be hard-pressed to keep a fourth RB. It'll be hard to fit that into the roster because they won't really need one unless Hardesty/Jackson get hurt. That's highly possible though, as both are off torn ACL seasons. Hardesty reportedly looks faster than he has. In terms of QB/RB/WR, the Browns second team should be more talented and advanced than some of their preseason opponents.

The defense will be desperately searching for LBs to replace Gocong (Achilles) and Fujita (3-gm susp.) in the preseason. They could dial up some more aggressive playcalling to see what these cats have.

They lack depth in the secondary, so if they get a backup who can air it out, they may give up some points.

Major loss of Phil Taylor at DT. Again, extended looks for the backups.

James-Michael Johnson, 4th rd DC Nevada, at LB has looked GREAT in camp. There's a chance he wins a starting gig with Gocong out.

Punter Reggie Hodges returns after a knee injury that cost him 2011. Browns will be much better in the punting (and fake punting) department.

I'll have more at some point but right now Bradford's ankle is not 100% so I expect him to be somewhat limited. No word from the team yet, but I can't imagine they play him like normal after how awful he was last year with the bum ankle. Guessing Clemens, Brandstater and Davis play a decent chunk of the games.

Miami Dophins- Qb- Garrard will start the game and run the 1's, expect Moore to get a few snaps with the 1's and split the 2's with Tannehill. Tannehill will split mop up duty with Devlin. I expect the qb play to be solid with these guys all fighting for the job. Moore usually play's better than he practices so I think you can expect him to score some points. Tannehill has looked good and will have an opportunity to shine.

Rb- I don't expect Bush to get a ton of work, Thomas will most likely get some work with the 1's and a good chunk with the 2's. Rookie Lamar Miller who has big play potential should get a good chunk of work in mop up duty.
Wr- This on paper is not a very sexy group. Hartline will most likely be limited if he plays at all. The first team will be Ocho, Bess and Naanee. I do think the second and third teams will have advantages and these guys are all fighting for spots. Pruitt, Wallace and Gates have a lot to play for and with good qb's throwing to them, it should benefit them.

I think Miami may be a good play at -2.5. They certainly have the advantage at qb depth. The buc's loosing Josh Johnson helps.

Philadelphia Eagles have released their depth chart.


QB - Vick is obviously #1 followed by Kafka, Nick Foles and Trent Edwards. Edwards’ days on the roster are clearly numbered. Kafka’s the backup. There’s no battle there. Vick will play around 3 series Thursday, followed by Kafka for about 6 series or until the end of the 1st half. 2nd half will be all Foles & Edwards.

RB - McCoy is #1 and Dion Lewis is listed behind McCoy. Bryce Brown is 3, and Chris Polk is 4. Lewis has had an excellent camp and is the clear favorite to back up McCoy in the regular season. Brown has a good shot to make the roster, but Polk has shown flashes during recent practices. That’s still a competition to keep an eye on with Brown & Polk looking to impress in the 2nd half.

WR - No surprises at wide receiver. Chad Hall is ahead of undrafted rookie free agent Damaris Johnson, but Johnson has a decent shot of beating him out for a roster spot with a strong showing in preseason action.

TE - Also no surprises here. Celek, followed by Clay Harbor and Brett Brackett. Celek has been injured already in camp and is coming off 2 surgeries in the offseason so his playing time will probabyl be limited which may allow more pressure on the edges from Pittsburgh.

O-Line - Dallas Reynolds is listed as the backup center, but it has been reported that all of the Eagles’ backup interior linemen who make the roster are going to be expected to play both guard and center. We’ll see if Julian Vandervelde plays some center in Thursday night’s game. The Eagles will be trying out a lot of rookies and 1st year players on the o-line which may be exploited by Pittsburgh's blitz happy defense.

D-Line - With Mike Patterson out, Derek Landri is listed as the 1st team DT. Fletcher Cox and Antonio Dixon are the 2nd team DTs. Cedric Thornton is third, although he has a shot to make the roster. Cullen Jenkins is listed as a 1st team DT, although he’s been playing some defensive end with Jason Babin sidelined. Brandon Graham and Darryl Tapp are the 2nd team DEs. Vinny Curry and Phillip Hunt are with the 3rd team. Curry is a lock to make the roster. Hunt is battling for a spot. The Eagles have ample talent and depth on the d-line. Look for serious pressure generated by the vets and the young rookies trying to earn a spot.

LB - DeMeco Ryans, Brian Rolle and Mychal Kendricks are the 1st team LBs. The Eagles were in nickel nearly half the time last year and have used a bunch of different LB combinations in nickle situations at training camp. It was Ryans and Rolle at first, then it was Ryans and Jamar Chaney. Following Chaney's injury, it has been Ryans and Kendricks. Keenan Clayton is 3rd on the depth chart at WILL, behind Rolle and Chaney. Casey Matthews is the backup MIKE. Akeem Jordan is behind Kendricks at SAM.
Ryans & Kendricks are new to the defense and are still learning schemes, etc. which may have them a step behind though it seems defenses are a but ahead of offenses in the early preseason.

CB - Slot CBis not listed, but Joselio Hanson still has a hold on the No. 1 spot there and will try to fight off rookie Brandon Boykin in the coming weeks. Nnamdi & DRC are the starting corners. The Eagles will be playing more man coverage and rely on press coverage which can be susceptible to WR speed and a well thrown pass.

S - The safeties are what you’d expect. Nate Allen and Kurt Coleman are the starters, with Oshiomogho Atogwe and Jaiquawn Jarrett as the backups. This is and has been a weak point for the Eagles since they let Dawkins walk. Something to keep an eye on because if a CB gets beat in man coverage, help over the top isn't always guarenteed

SPECIAL TEAMS

P - After some visa issues, Mat McBriar has impressed in camp and is listed as the 1st team punter, ahead of Chas Henry. If McBriar is healthy, he is the favorite to win that job. Look for extra effort from McBriar to show he is healthy and from Henry to stay with the team over McBriar.

K- Alex Henery's job seems to be safe. That makes sense considering the Eagles used a 4th round pick on him in 2011. Not much to watch for here.

KR/PR - Damaris Johnson is the 1st team punt returner, and Boykin is the 1st team kickoff returner. Special teams might be the No. 1 thing to watch on Thursday night. The Eagles really need to get a lot more out of their return games this year.
