Wednesday NBA Thread
I've pretty much gotten my ass kicked over the last week, but there are a couple NBA games of interest to me tonight.
OKC is 9-2 ATS coming off a SU loss, and they play at home tonight against the Clippers. Line is -8.5 right now. Seems like a little much, but it might be something to look at. The other game that intrigues me is Knicks @ 76ers -4.5. Knicks have absolutely been on fire their last 4 games with their new coach, and have seemed to be the team everyone expects them to be. They are as hot as anyone winning their last 4 SU and 5 ATS. Should you ride them one more night, or is this a letdown spot? It has to come to an end sometime, but I don't think tonight is the night. Their 2nd to last SU loss was against the 76ers at home, maybe that provides a little extra motivation coming into tonight? World_Wide_Wob seems to think the value on the Knicks is gone now, but I am curious to get some other thoughts on the issue. Twitter:@louiemdj |

The Knicks last four have been impressive, but the 76ers have also been pretty great at home. I don't think you can ignore the opponent in this spot. |

Probably going to get on the Knicks if I can get +4 or better. It may be a trap, but we shall see.

Knicks seem like a trap, and it's hard to ever find "value" on a team like that, but I'd pick NYK tonight. They're on the up-tick with the new coach, while I feel like the Sixers have been on the verge of collapse and giving up the division lead for the last month.
Think about it, they started out 20-9. So since mid-February, this team is only 6-11. Are they truly as talented as a team like the Knicks?

RE: Wednesday NBA Thread
This is a no-play. On the surface, the recent success by the Knicks is nice....Knicks have been playing much better since the coaching change. In Woodson's first three games the Knicks averaged more points (112.7 to 96.7), more fast-break points (22.3 to 12.6) and fewer turnovers (14.7 to 16.6) than they did with D'Antoni calling the shots.
But on a closer look, its interesting that the Knicks are now winning by playing like the sixers- balanced attack, ball sharing and defense. For most of this season people would've claimed NYK's advantage was in the fact it had more star power than the sixers. As for the Sixers, much of their hot start was due to the chemistry of the team and everyone buying into Collins' style. Then Hawes got hurt and was in & out of the line up, which left the sixers without a true center. During the time Hawes was out it's no secret the Sixers struggled, especially offensively. Once he returned it seemed like the team was struggling to reintegrate Hawes in those first few games. However, the win in charlotte the other night seems to indicate the chemistry/integration issues are fading (and also that Charlotte is freaking terrible!!!! )So the recent play angle tends to favor NYK but the Sixers are starting to show signs of the team that was off to such a great start at the beginning of the year. Too many ??? on both sides, so its a no-play. |
