TV Fall 2012

What shows are you most looking forward to this fall?

1 new show and 1 returning show.

For me it's Revolution (new show on NBC) and Homeland (2nd season on Showtime).

Besides 24 and Mad Men, can't think of a show I've been more excited to see return. Yes, Homeland is that good.

Don't really have a new show, but a bunch of returning ones.

Mainly Sons of Anarchy, Boardwalk Empire, Parks & Rec, Dexter, Homeland, and the Walking Dead.

If I had to pick 1 has to be Homeland. Outside of Breaking Bad and Mad Men, probably the best combination of story and acting.

Breaking Bad is the one show I need to watch. Just got through The Wire... which I thought was fantastic. Sheeeeeeeit... lol. Season's 3 & 4 were probably the two best seasons of The Wire. I hated the journalist angle in Season 5.

Mad Men is probably my favorite show on TV. Homeland is right there with it. Can't wait for Season 2. Going to be a fascinating second season.

I highly recommend Breaking Bad. Its the only show that touches The Wire, in my opinion. Seasons 3 and 4 of The Wire might be the best two seasons of TV ever. Just phenomenal.

Mad Men is great too. Sad that 2 of my 3 favorite shows ever (Breaking Bad and Mad Men) are both drawing to a close soon. Not going to be good times after that. Hoping Homeland can fill the void, but I've read that they are planning on only a 2-3 year run for Homeland. That'd be a shame, but nothing worse than a show running too long (i.e. Weeds and Dexter).

I rather Homeland end with the end of Bodie. Restarting from scratch with a new lead doesn't make much sense.

I think Mad Men is the best period pace in modern television history. Not just from a writing perspective, but from the way it conveys its messages both obvious and more underlying.

The Wire was a gritty, gritty show. I could of done without Season 5 though. And I thought they could of done more with Stringer. Should of killed off Barksdale instead in my opinion.

I agree about most of the above.

Homeland should end with Bodies story. He's one of the better TV characters in recent memory and it'd be almost impossible to reboot the show without him.

Agree on Mad Men as well. Not sure any show ever has captured an era and displayed it in such an authentic way. The Wire was authentic as well, but not in terms of being a different time period.

I'm not as down on season 5 as you, but I understand the disappointment. Season 5 could have been better for sure. I liked what they did with Stringer though. He just got to the point where he was trying to play the game too much and it got him. Stringer over extended himself and it was Marlo's time.

Looking forward to the return of new episodes of Big Bang Theory. Nice to have a comedy to break the cycle of dramas. Only other comedy I really watch is Shameless and that wavers back and forth between comedy and drama.

Homeland, Boardwalk Empire and Dexter.

Really hope this is the last season of Dexter unless something really changes. It was the best show for a while, and now it's gotten a little redundant.

Homeland and Boardwalk Empire should both be great though.

I'm pretty sure this is the last season of Dexter. I hope so as well. Shows run its course. Its on the list of Weeds and Entourage as shows that would have been far better as 4-5 season shows instead of 7+ seasons.

Speaking of Entourage, when is the movie going to come out? I've heard talk, but no dates.

Ive read the same. They set it up so perfectly for a movie I can't imagine it doesn't happen. And shit the only main characters I really want to see are Ari (for comedy) and Sloan (for looks). Maybe turtle and drama for some good back and forth.

Need some direction on the new shows for this season, haven't heard much buzz about any of them.

Somewhat unrelated, but I've just started watching the second season of the TNT show Falling Skies about aliens invading earth and the fight for human survival. This show is fantastic... really well done.
