Thursday MLB
Only 3 games in the NL tomorrow. Anything you're looking for at the open? Here are some quick thoughts:
Giants @ Reds -12:35 P.M. EST Get away day for the Giants as they'll be wrapping up their 7 game road trip before heading back for a home game Thursday night against the Dads. Reds won the opener 9-2 but both teams are playing pretty good ball right now. Vogelsong with two solid starts this season and two OK starts against the Reds last season but Reds with good individual numbers against him. Bailey has been OK this season but has an FIP over 5 and got roughed up in his one start vs the Giants last season. SF bullpen has been a bit shaky this year. Both teams have hit the ball well in their last 5 games. Aubrey Huff is questionable for the Giants. Umpire Tim Welke has seen a majority of his games go over the total the last 3 years despite having a fairly high strike %. Reds -105, Total 8 Reds -124, Total 8 Marlins @ Mets - 1:05 P.M. EST Both Marlins and Mets on a get away day. Marlins heading home to face D'Backs and Mets heading to Colorado to face Rockies. Mets won first game of the series and the Marlins are now just (2-7) on the road. Nolasco has been consistently steady but has faced the Astros and Cubs in his last two starts. Neise has been solid as well. Marlins batting just .182 against left handed pitching and have struggled to score runs the last few games on the road. Mets offense also has struggled lately batting .220 as a team in their last 5 games. Mets lineup still a bit banged up with Bay and Torres on the DL. Mets -120, Total 7.5 Mets -106, Total 7.5 Nationals @ Padres - 10:05 P.M. EST Get away night for both teams as the Nats will be heading to LA and the Padres will be heading to SF. Nats now (13-4), best record in MLB and (5-2) on the road. They also won the first game of this series. Jackson roughed up in his last start and Padres with good individual numbers against him. Jackson does have a sub 3 FIP. Volquez has been alright but has struggled with his control. Neither team hitting well in their last 5 or the whole season for that matter. Two of the best bullpens in the NL here as well. Both teams offenses banged up with Morse out and Zimmerman likely out for the Nats, while Blanks, Quentin remain out for the Padres and Guzman might be out as well. Nationals -125, Total 6.5 Nationals -106, Total 6.5 |

RE: Thursday MLB
Mets / Marlins under looks awfully tempting given how poorly both teams have hit. The injuries in this one plus the good starts for each pitcher make me believe this is a low scoring game.
On the Red Sox as well... shocked they are underdogs. Also picked up Toronto at -106 overnight... has moved to -117. Don't see them being swept by Baltimore. Follow me on Twitter: JayPrimetown |

RE: Thursday MLB
I made a play on BOS over 3.5 runs. The price had dived down too much (25 cents) for me to justify a play on their ML, and I think they can get to Humber in the follow-up from the perfect game. (Humber has limited history against the BOS lineup, so not much to read into there.)

. A bullpen with a ERA of 7.19 throwing six people the night before doesn't necessarily scream pick me.
