The little girl at Wal-Mart
So I was at Wal-Mart the other day in the fruit snack aisle (where else?), and this little girl came running toward her mom.

"Mom, this place is awesome!" the girl said. "Like, could you imagine. What if we could live here?"

"You want to live in Wal-Mart?" the mom asked.

"Why, YES!" the girl said. "This place has everything! It has food, it has televisions, it has clothes. I mean, did you LOOK AT ALL THE CLOTHES!"

"Well, yeah, I ..."

"And mom. Did you SEE all the toys! And the bikes! I could ride the bikes in the store!"

"In your new clothes," I interjected.

"YES!" she said.

* * *

I couldn't help but laugh. When I was a little kid, we had this department store in town called Boscov's, and I thought that store was incredible. I mean, it had EVERYTHING!

My neighbor once told me a story about how she and a friend once hid behind a bed at Boscov's and spent the night there.

This little girl, I'm sure, has the same dream. Only she wants to stay the night at Wal-Mart.

I wonder if she's aware that it's open 24 hours. LOL

I think I liked this part of the story the best.

Drastic change from the story I can tell you from Target yesterday.

It's in a very diverse part of town. It's close enough to the hood, but also near the trendier part of Cleveland and closest to downtown with some Cleveland State students. The aisles in this particular Target look like a Sesame Street casting call.

I'm there getting popsicles for my sick fiance.

Girl in front of me at the register with eyes as red as can be. Blank stare off into another dimension.

Purchases: Cosmic Brownies, Fudge Brownies, and Ice Cream Sandwiches.

Laugh all you want. Has some of the best restaurants in Ohio.

Lots of art festivals and shit. Not my cup of tea, but a lot of young professionals and hippies live there.

I love Walmart (and Target). I actually went tonight. I bought 7, 70 sheet, wide ruled notepads and 2 orange crushes.
