If poker becomes legalized, then I'd be able to deposit with my credit card to play poker at a site like Bovada or another regulated site. If that site also has sports betting, then suddenly the process becomes that much easier.

Sounds good in theory but the reality is once it becomes legal in order to operate an online casino or poker room you need to get licensed and no offshore site like bovada with apply for one becuse they would never qualify. What the gov't is trying to do is allow legal regulated sites to operate online casinos or poker and eliminate the "unregulated" sites like the ones we all use for wagering now. If you read the HR bill now in congress it really is trying to eliminate the offshore sites entirely. If they stop money transfers post up is all but dead sadly. Until now sports betting has been lumped with poker and casinos but what the DOJ is now doing is specifically saying sports wagering violates the wire act and you can bet they will enforce it. The only way I can see sports wagering becoming legal in the forseeable future is if NJ is sucessfull in overturning the PASPA legislation and then some states start to allow online sports wagering with the Nevada casinos. I think in Nevada now you can bet online with the cantor books anyway so its kind of already in place but you have to reside in Nevada to be able to place a bet. The sports leagues specifically the NFL will put up a very tough fight to not have legalized sports betting legalized but hopefully now with poker and casinos being legalized they will not win again.
