While I think a part of people getting conned is because it was a pretty girl at the forefront, the bigger picture is that these people were getting conned by a guy. This Nilesh Prasad. Even the link just posted showed that Phillips was the entry person, but everything went through Prasad. So how can we say this happened "only because it was a woman?" That is patently false. The guy "Ben" and now this guy Xavier both dealt with Prasad. A faceless man. Look at the chat Deadspin posted between Ben and Nilesh. No Sarah Phillips anywhere and Nilesh lying about The Big Lead and other things. They gave over pieces of their "business" (for lack of a better word) to him, not Sarah Phillips. These people would have been scammed with a guy, girl, horse, or whatever that was offering them millions. Having a pretty girl at the front made it more likely, but to say "most of this" probably wouldn't have happened if it was a 50 year old guy is just false. The media outrage may be different, but the scam would still be perpetuated the same.

Any kid offered riches by someone working at ESPN is going to A) look into that and B) probably fall for it. ESPN and Covers gave her a platform. You think that people wouldn't be scammed by another writer with an ESPN byline because it was a man? I find that absurd. Phillips used the ESPN credit to reel these people in for Prasad. That is a huge similarity in all of these stories coming out. She wasn't doing this when at Covers or just as a Twitter personality. Why not? She was pretty then, right? She needed that ESPN backing. Anyone at ESPN (man/woman) could work something like this with that kind of name on their business card.

SP would not have gotten the job at ESPN if she wasn't female

Ben and Xavier wouldnt have been scammed if she didnt work for ESPN

Ergo: This happened, in large part, because of the gender aspect.

Sports betting outside of Nevada is illegal. Selling your opinion is not. Are you saying that you are a criminal?

I never said being a woman wasn't a factor. But it's not the only factor.

RE: Sarah Phillips of ESPN
I got in late last night, and I really don't know what to say. I mean, this forum HAS been behind this for a while. As BTB mentioned, her column writing from one site to the other was completely diferent. Before all this happened, I simply thought someone did the columns and she simply twitted stuff and was the face for this. Never thought at any point this would go to such extent.

My gut reaction is simple: Don't use covers anymore. For anything. Don't give the site any traffic. I mean, this whole thing started because of them. And I'd love to remind you the Jack Zitto scandal was really less than a month ago (And then he lost -7 units and owes 20 dollars to a charity, and of course, never showed up here again). If a company is capable of creating this negative buzz to the industry that BTB (and I'd like to think all of us to some extent) have been trying to eliminate; why would we keep consuming this product?

And again, I'm still waiting for whatever Covers have to say (And ESPN for that matter as well). I mean, last time, they simply decided to state that Covers and Covers experts were separate enterprises that had nothing to do with one another. Now what type of shit will they try to throw on us?

1.) Nevada isn't the only state that allows bets to be placed on sports.

2.) Definitely not a criminal.

3.) Whoever buys your picks must not care about money. If you sell picks for a living (maybe you have another job), why wouldn't you move to Vegas? If you opinion is so good, why even sell picks. You should be able to move to Vegas, make a killing, then retire.

1. What other states allow sports betting?
2. People who break the law are called criminals! If you illegally bet on sports, then you are breaking the law which makes you a criminal!
3. I would NEVER move to Las Vegas! I have a family and would NEVER raise them in such a shithole.

Are you asking them using accepted math, or the tout math you use on your site? Do they count all their plays, or do they delete plays that don't hit? Does it still count if they change their name to someone new and give them a fake record? I know you have experience with tout math, so you should be able to provide some valuable insight here.

[Edit] For anyone not up to speed, VegasKillers are scam artists, and John Harrison is a fraud. Proof is all over the place; simple Google searches will show you the numbers. And yes, John Harrison, cheat / liar / thief, I will be responding to more of your posts with some good key-words for web-crawls to pick up. Enjoy your stay.

I am up a TON Mr. Mount! Here is how, I don't bet on sports! You would have to be a fucking idiot to bet on sports (unless it is literally for recreation). As for the sports entertainment sites I used to own, that was purely "entertainment"! It said at the bottom of the site, "For ENTERTAINMENT purposes only". If you were betting illegally from South Carolina where you live, then that is on you man! On VegasKillers.com, I thought it would be funny to put on the Terms of Service that "these records are completely false and are made up for entertainment purposes". Go look at it now, it still says it! That is why I think you guys are so stupid! It actually says, "WE DON'T KNOW SHIT AT THIS SITE" and you guys still would line up to see what we were picking! F-ing morons!
