RE: Sarah Phillips of ESPN
Very curious why she won't do anything on camera.

My question: if she's fake, why would ESPN hire "her"

Lynn Hoppes is reputable within the industry though -- no way he would hire someone to work for him that was a fake cyber account pretending to be a hot girl.

I don't know, I'm lost -- and need to know the answer.

However, every day she doesn't do a podcast, go on camera, etc... the less I believe she is real.

She turns down those opportunities. That's a verifiable fact.

And Lynn Hoppes, a legend in the newspaper industry and respected by all that he has encountered, might not be "in" on it. I know that sounds absurd, but it's very, very possible.

Has anyone confirmed that the ESPN Sarah Phillips and the Covers Sarah Phillips are supposed to be the same person? I haven't tracked the situation, so forgive me if I'm asking an unreasonable question.

(11-23-2011 04:03 PM)The Posse Wrote:  Sarah Phillips is a writer for ESPN's Page 2. She writes a weekly picks column and is 53-40-2 (56.9 percent) picking both NFL spreads/totals and CFB spreads/totals. I think her columns are insightful and a good read.

Sarah is also on Twitter and she'll occasionally (I assume just occasionally) announce her plays. Not sure if anyone has tracked her record of her posted Twitter plays, but she does quite well. Occasionally I have rode along with her plays and I've won more than I've lost. Sometimes she'll just say what her plays is, sometimes she'll post a screen shot of her 5Dimes wagers. However, she tends to post screen shots of her big plays well after a game has started and she's on the right side of it what seems like every time. Has anyone else noticed this? I think it's strange that I rarely see any of her big plays posted BEFORE a game has started. Thoughts?

Everything ive seen from sarah has been right on, real or fake. Shes legit haha

RE: Sarah Phillips of ESPN
What, specifically? Anything that's quantified, or just a series of winning tickets posted after a game is over?

She post several 1H and 2H plays on Twitter... and I believe hits at a pretty good clip. I haven't quantified it, but I bet it's over 55%.

And this is a 15- or 20-game sample size? 100 games? 1,000 games?

Over the course of the past month since I started paying attention to it. Probably 30 games.

Not as a personal attack on you, but this is a great example of how people get mislead into losing money at sports betting. I'm not disputing your numbers, but most people probably "feel like" they hit over 50% of their plays in certain situations, but don't know for sure. They may be betting sides and totals in all kinds of different sports, but don't keep track of where they're winning or losing money. If someone puts in 15 plays between NFL, NCAAB, NCAAF, and NHL in a weekend and wins money, they may not take the time to see where or how they won that money. Someone may "think" they're winning > 50% of their NFL bets, but it may be more like 48.5% of the 100 NFL bets they make in a year, which can lose someone a lot of money. In this instance, you may "believe" that the person is hitting 55%, but it could easily be 51%, which would still be losing at -110. It just goes back to what BTB and some others have said in a different thread. You have to know where your edge is, and "thinking" and "knowing" are very important when you're laying juice on a bet repeatedly.

Again, I don't mean to attack you specifically in any way, and I hope it didn't come across that way. Your post just made a good example of a point that I think could be important to some people.

RE: Sarah Phillips of ESPN
You guys are late. Sarah Phillips was run off of Covers months ago for doing this type of stuff. She wouldn't post records and hit around 40% of her plays. She became the running joke on the site. The community finally ran her off, nobody reads her columns anymore and she no longer posts there.

I follow her on Twitter, and yes, she posts winning tickets after the fact. I've been tailing the plays she posts beforehand, (before she gets to delete them) and she's hitting 50%. Take the last two days for example, she posted 4 plays. Ohio St., Oregon 2H under, Colts, and KC 2H. 2-2, losing juice.

The picks she posts on her espn page are all from a ea sports consultants, she just does the write ups. I tail those also.

I remember she hit a nice clip during the 24 Hours of Basketball earlier in the season.

I didn't mean to make a generalization, just didn't have the time to go back and analyze her plays. And if "she" does in fact delete her posts, even harder to track.

Didn't mean to stir the pot on this one... just believe the plays I have seen her post (before games start) have done well. Can I guarantee she's hitting over 50% No. Do I believe she has hit over 50% since college basketball started? Yes.

RE: Sarah Phillips of ESPN
She gets hot like any other gambler. I have nothing against her personally. I tail her plays because they are from a good service and there are so few of them. I found it annoying that she would delete losing plays and post winning tickets after the game was done. I haven't lost too much following her and I also haven't won like she claims to have won either.

EA sports consultants. She's mentioned them several times. My friend is subscribed to them and the plays are identical. They're a great service, I'm thinking of signing up.

If you feel like you need the help, then it might be worth it, but remember, whatever price you pay for the service makes your overhead that much higher for your picks. So if the service costs $1k, and you're making $50 bets, you've got to be +20 "units" before you even break even on the cost of the plays. Depending on how long the service time lasts, getting that original 20 units isn't going to leave you much time to actually make a profit. And if they don't make the original amount back, then you're out what you paid them and the amount you lost on their picks.

Here are their "packages": http://easportsconsultants.com/purchase-selections.htm

PS - If the plans are completely taken from a service, don't claim them as your own. That's weak.
