Purdue vs. Iona
Purdue wins by 15.* This line should be Purdue -10. What a slap in the face.

Who set this line?

A monkey swinging from a vine could set a better line than this one.

Not sure they win by 15, but I think there is real value in Purdue. The Boilermakers are being strongly underestimated here.

I'd try, but I honestly can't locate High Point on a map. That said, an outright loss to High Point would have been a low point in the Matt Painter era, no doubt.

Seriously...I played D2 football and baseball and played at random schools across the country and I have heard of thousands of schools from D3 to NAIA to D1 and I have NEVER EVER heard of High Point.

That's my neighbor, I'm disappointed in the way you both speak of it. LOL

It's astounding how many small D1 basketball programs are in North Carolina along the top half of the state.

North Carolina is like San Diego: it always looks nice there. I lived there until I was ~10 years old, before moving to Ohio, and I remember getting here and thinking, "WTF is with this weather?!" I'd like to move back at some point, but I fear I'm a Buckeye for life now.

[Edit] In other news, I'm going with Purdue here. Purdue housed NIU, and still have a lot of talent. If they didn't stub their toe against High Point, I think this number comes out more than -4.5. There are a lot of people on Iona though, so maybe I'm missing something. Not a big Painter fan, but I still like my chances here. The m/l is only -200 too, which seems like a decent price if you like Purdue but are scared of the 4.5.

I would get into a Michigan v Ohio argument with you, but I honestly just don't care that much. I love the city of Cincinnati, which probably makes me a little crazy, but Ohio as a whole ... meh. It's a fine state I suppose, and there have been a lot of presidents from here, but there isn't a ton going on here that makes me go, "Holy Batman's ballsack, I love OHIO!"

RE: Purdue vs. Iona
Just went to Cincy 2 weeks ago. Spent a weekend away with my wife and daughter. It's nice since it's only a little under 2 hours from Indy (where I live). Had a good time over in Newport and then downtown. Could have done without the 2 hours and gobbs of $$$$ I spent at Disney on Ice but that's what my daughter is for I guess.

You may be the first person in the history of time and space to use Cincinnati as a getaway destination. Most people that aren't from here think Cincy is a p.o.s., but I really enjoy it. Newport has a good setup with the comedy-club, bowling alley, etc. in the same place. I know Brandon Phillips spends a lot of time there; he's frequently seen at the bowling alley at like 3AM.

RE: Purdue vs. Iona
Well my wife is 7 and a half months pregnant and my daughter is 2. So we were looking for somewhere somewhat close. Plus, Disney on Ice is the main reason we went. So the stars kind of aligned.

I actually love Iona +5 in this game. I was tempted to ML it, but chose not to. I think they will give Purdue everything they can handle.

RE: Purdue vs. Iona
I tend to lean towards Purdue. In my opinion the game against High Point can be explained with 6/19 FT shooting and attempting 32 3 pointers. That extreme number of 3 pointers can be corrected with coaching and I expect they won't take such a high number of low percentage shots this game, especially because Purdue will have a minor size advantage.

In terms of FTs, Hummel was 1-4 as a career 84% FT shooter and Terone Johnson was 1-5 as a 55% FT shooter. The percents say they lost at least 3 points there alone. Mix that in with the ridiculous number of 3 balls and its easy to see why they barely beat High Point.

I think Iona is a good team and all, but I think the HP game was a fluke and thus lean Purdue in this one.

I believe your quote from 24 Hour Madness was, "What are you doing you damn ape?!" I'm too lazy to find the post, but probably worth keeping around. ;)
