Exclamation Pick your team: College football experts WANTED
Your help is wanted. Again.

For the second straight year, we're calling on BTB readers to volunteer as college football experts for the 2012 season. We're not asking that you know everything about every team or even every conference.

We simply need you to become an expert on one team.

The goal is to have one designated expert for every BCS team. From there, we will try to expand out and cover all 124 FBS schools. Each expert will be asked to contribute the following throughout the season, from beginning to end:
  • News and information. If there's something notable written about your chosen team, either nationally or locally, provide a link or summarize the report.
  • Injury updates. Tell us who is out and why (or if) it matters.
  • Analysis. Provide your thoughts on the upcoming game.
  • Picks. Each week, you'll be asked to make a pick against the spread on the game involving your chosen team.
Each expert's picks records will be kept throughout the season and will be tallied weekly. Standings will be posted on Tuesdays. All information will be exchanged in the forum. You can sign up here.

Oh, last thing: The purpose of this project isn't necessarily to pick winners, though that'd certainly be an added bonus if you have the ability to do so. Instead, the goal is to compile and curate all relevant information in one place so that we can all be better informed.

RE: Let's get it started: College football experts WANTED
We need an expert for EVERY college football team in the country. You will provide updates as frequently as possible and will also participate in a handicapping contest during the season. You focus on one team and one team only, and hopefully it's a team that you follow closely and have strong insight on.

Sign up within. More details to come. Any questions, don't hesitate.

Gee, I did so well with South Carolina last year, let's go with them again. Believe I was 2-6 after week 8 and finished around .500.

Sorry, I think you meant to post in the "Stupid people who can't pick a game correctly to save their life" thread.

I will follow Silas Redd and take USC.

I am fairly knowledgeable when it comes to them since that is the only football that gets reported on out here in SoCal.

I looked for that thread, but I didn't see it. Then again, I'm stupid, so maybe I just misread the title.

I think it's a mistake to think that people will be able to accurately assess their fav team for gambling purposes.

More interested in the information provided and having it curated all in one spot. People can make their own decisions from there.

I think it's a mistake to think that they won't be able to.

We're talking about gambling here. I've bet against the Indians as much as I've bet on them. I've faded the Browns more times than I can count. BTB has bet against Kansas State as much as he's bet on them (I assume). The assumption, and rightly so, is that you're going to know your favorite team the best. Well, my favorite team is Ohio State, but, another poster did them last year and I'd rather leave them for that person.

It's not like you have to listen to the experts on all their thoughts. They'll present their arguments and you're free to go against them.

"Experts" is mostly just a relative term in this case.

Small time, but I should be able to provide some good info on Western Kentucky University. Still pretty tight with a lot of the players and have a pretty good feel on the team.

I agree, I think when you are dealing with a group like this one, they are savvy enough to separate reality and hope. I wrote up my favorite team for btb months ago and my number was the same as the open. I know several guys on here are the same way.

Expert should be able to get the best facts/stats/trends, on the other hand they will be emotionally biased in the pick after those facts. Ideally, the experts should only the facts, and other posters draw their own conclusions. As long as there is a track record of picks/facts, other posters can evaluate the biases on their own as well.
