Flyers/Devils Injury Update:

Kovalchuk did not make the trip to Philadelphia with the Devils and will not play in Game 2 on Tuesday night at the Wells Fargo Center, as confirmed by New Jersey president Lou Lamoriello.

According to Lamoriello, Kovalchuk is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. There is no word as to Kovalchuk’s status for the rest of the series.

With Jacob Josefson out with an injury still, defenseman Peter Harrold will move up to play right wing and rookie Adam Larsson will make his playoff debut on Tuesday night.

RE: NHL Tuesday
Looking at the over again tonight for the Devils and Flyers. Kovalchuk gave them nothing in game 1 anyway and now with the addition of Larsson can hopefully have some puck possession deep in the Flyer end. Bryzgalov gave up another softie on Saturday as did Brodeur. Flyers were really flat in the first period and still scored 3 in regulation so I may play the over at 5.5 at +115.

The bigger news is Nashville/Phoenix tomorrow. Radulov and Andrei Kostistyn are out which is going to be a problem for the Preds. Yes they were lazy in the two games in Phoenix, but they still provide puck possession which now is going to be an issue for Nashville. Rinne has been just ok which is not going to be good enough. He has to be really good cause Smith will make big saves. If you told me the Preds would have scored 6 goals in two games and have no wins to show for it I wouldn't have believed it. Phoenix right now is at +160 for game 3 which is outrageous for a team with a goalie like Smith. The Preds will need big games from Mike Fisher and Legwand in game 3 and for Kevin Klein to wake up. He has been terrible defensively.

Another note. They books have moved the Rangers/ Caps and Blues/Kings (for both games) down to 4.5 for the O/U. I think there is definite value in the Blues/Kings over. The Kings speed has given St. Louis all kinds of issues and the SJ series did not prepare St. Louis for LA's grit. Pietrangelo being out means more room for the Kings forwards, while St. Louis stepped it up at the end of game 2 with the physicality. Could easily see a 2-2 game late in game 3.

Great analysis Rick. LA/STL under has burned me twice already. May go over now. Also the Grand Salami has been over a lot in the second round. The high scoring west games are baffling me!
