NHL Trade Deadline Props
I have to admit, I haven't followed hockey as closely as I'd have liked to at this point in the season.

But I came across a bunch of prop bets and wanted to see if any stood out to any of you.

They involve the NHL trade deadline. I don't expect to find much value, but thought it was worth a look anyways.

RE: NHL Trade Deadline Props
There were only 16 trades last year, which was the lowest number in a long time. Had been 20 or more every year since 2003.

I can't determine what kind of trade deadline it'll be. On one hand, you have some teams who will be sellers and look to maximize their assets. On another hand, you have impending CBA negotiations so teams won't be too happy to take on questionable contracts. The salary cap may go down as part of the owners' requests during the CBA talks.

The Bernier prop sticks out to me, but the only way he gets traded is for Rick Nash. I don't think LA is really gung ho on Jeff Carter. A LA/CBJ trade with Nash has been a pretty strong rumor.

There's not a whole lot of value on most of those, like you said. If players doesn't include draft picks, which, theoretically, are players, then the under is a real strong bet. It's not expected to be a very good draft in 2012. Or 2013 for that matter. Draft picks will be the currency of the day. If by players it means "assets", which includes picks, then it's a decent number.

If Carolina doesn't win both of their games before the deadline, Allen's gone for sure. He might be gone anyway.

RE: NHL Trade Deadline Props
I would go under on amount of trades. I just don't see a lot of movement happening. The Rangers would normally be buyers, but I think unless Columbus comes way down on Nash they aren't going to make any moves. Only 2 teams are more than 8 points out of a playoff spot. The Oilers and Columbus. In today's NHL everyone can grasp so the amount of sellers is greatly reduced. Teams like Anaheim, Tampa, Buffalo all have pieces they could move, but won't because they aren't that far out of playoff contention. Not to mention all you have to do is get in and anything can happen. Ask Philly.

Thanks for the responses so far. I would have replied sooner, except I was filling out the Movie questionnaire in the off topic thread. Took me close to 2 hrs and I'm still not 100% convinced I filled it out accurately. Panic

Guess I was wrong on Jeff Carter. Bernier doesn't get traded now. You can lock that in.

Absolutely not. With the way Bryz-aster has been playing in net, there is no way the flyers trade Bob right now.
