RE: MLB -- Undervalued Starting Pitchers
I figured the halfway point would be a good time to update this. We identified 30 possibly "undervalued" pitchers, and so far 15 have been profitable and 15 haven't. SMH.

We DID nail R.A. Dickey, who's been the best pitcher for bettors so far.

(LAST UPDATE: 7/5/12)
3 votes -- Brandon Beachy (ATL) -0.28 units
3 votes -- Mike Minor (ATL) -1.17 units
2 votes -- Erik Bedard (PIT) -3.57 units
2 votes -- Cory Luebke (SD) +3.24 units
2 votes -- Johan Santana (NYM) +1.81 units
2 votes -- Vance Worley (PHI) -4.44 units

I can't believe Minor is only -1.17 with how awful he has been.

Worley is a pitcher to look for in the second half. I think he will be very profitable. Perhaps a good blind bet going down the road.

Greinke is in my opinion the best pitcher in the majors right now. And he is still getting priced like a middle of the pack guy on some spots. I will be activly looking for more spots to back the guy.

Thanks for the update, Chief.

RE: MLB -- Undervalued Starting Pitchers
As a KC fan, I can say (with bias) that Greinke's stuff is as good as anyone when he's locked in. I really think he's the most talented pitcher in the league. Just look at the first two months of his 2009 season for us. And now this year he's been pretty lights out.

The problem for him has always been his head. He's just a weird, weird guy.

I like underdogs, I will just add 3 from last night that won.

Travis Wood from the Cubs
Francisco Liriano from the Twins

Agreed. Could be the best in the game if his brain wasn't all messed up.

Further evidence of how weird he is:
Home ERA: 1.89
Road ERA: 4.03
While pitching in the 3rd worst pitchers park.

Another vote for Travis Wood. Jose Quintana of the White Sox has been lights out also.

RE: MLB -- Undervalued Starting Pitchers
Liriano still worries me because he hasn't been the most consistent pitcher. Just when he starts throwing well, I feel like he's due for a huge letdown.

RE: MLB -- Undervalued Starting Pitchers
We have a section on our site that allows you to sort/filter data for starting pitchers which can be found here, Starting Pitcher Cover Rates

We track actual and projected win percentages for starting pitchers instead of units, but hopefully it provides you with some of the information you are looking for.

Let us know if you have any questions.
