MLB team experts thread [volunteers wanted]
I know, I know. We start a million things and then we only end up sticking with 500,000 of them. But here's something else I want to try.

If we have fans of every team here, and I'm sure we do, it'd be pretty neat if we could have folks volunteer to provide info each day on their favorite teams. Just a hunch or a lean or a note - anything that could help the rest of us.

I'm a Cubs fan and, since I watch 'em daily, I can generally pick on up on a few things and develop a decent feel for how they'll perform over time. I'm sure many of you are able to do the same, at least to some extent.

So, any interest?

I'll volunteer the Cubs and will pop into this thread daily to provide SOMETHING, including a lean. If you guys want to provide a daily pick, that's fine too, and then we can keep standings or post records or whatever.

As usual, I'll leave it up to you guys to decide how you want to do it, but for now, anybody want to sign up to take a team?

Cubs - BTB

I'll take the Cardinals. Watch every game. Read the local paper stories everyday. Follow all the writers on Twitter. Sure I can add something about them.

Also, you guys know I'll figure out a way to turn this thing into a contest, or something. LOL

Again, links, news updates, nuggets, picks, whatever. I want this thread to turn into somewhat of a morning newspaper of sorts for info on each team.

Taken teams: Cubs, Cardinals, Reds.

Not that it matters because neither player is that good, but Scott Linebrink is headed to the DL and Victor Marte is expected to be called up to replace him on the 25 man roster. Supposed to officially happen today sometime.

BRAVES!!!!!
The Braves just finished up with their opening day game against the mets. Lots of carryover, hitters couldn't hit, and pitchers pitched. Seriously though, a couple things to get to:

Chipper says he's coming along in his minor knee surgery rehab, and thinks he could be back before the targeted date of the home opener.

While the manager, Gonzalez, said Hanson's pitch count would be about 115 for today, he was hooked during the 6th and had pitched outstanding so far, other than a couple batter stretch. Looks like Gonzalez will continue with the quick-hook, which is bad news IMO, because we have very good starting pitching and because our middle relief is suspect at best.

The new SS Pastornicky had a good game, a triple and drew a walk. Kid's got some pretty good speed.

And some old news, we traded for Juan Francisco the other day, got him from cincy. He's a decent power-hitting prospect and I'm watching him anxiously this year as someone with have to fill some pretty big holes at Third next year.

Yankees
Im new here so I don't know if this needs to be said but I always ride CC the second half of the season, generally with Robertson & Mo at the end of those games you feel good about those plays.

Also the majority (can't find the stat) of Boston/New York games have hit the over in recent years.

^ Good man.

Here's an outdated article from 2 years ago supports my thinking on CC Sabathia. Always has been strong in the 2nd half

You can have 'em, too. In fact, I'm making you the #1 guy since you're a great poster with a proven track record.

Also, your -1 explanation landed on the home page, so there's that, too. Love

Few early notes for PHI Lee @ PIT Karstens, Sat. 4/6
- Current Pirates lineup has a collective .141 career average vs Lee
- Phillies were 22-10 when Lee started last year
- Phillies are 4-6 in their last 10 games in Pittsburgh, including today's win
