LSU/Oregon
What does everyone think this will reopen at the bigger offshore books? I saw one book has oregon-2. In my mind that sums up Jordan Jefferson's career at LSU.

RE: LSU/Oregon
I'm going to avoid the line but enjoy watching the game. Les Miles and Chip Kelly are both such creative coaches that I wonder how much they're going to play around with the playbooks and what effect that'll have on the game since neither team's offense will be fully in sync yet.
LSU obviously has baggage entering the game, but Oregon has a little of their own too. Should be a pro-LSU crowd and they might be one of the few defenses speed-wise who can play with Oregon's up-tempo offense. Endurance and depth is a factor. First real game action, guys playing a lot of snaps. It'll be a great gauge for the depth of both teams going forward and something to watch intently for later in the year as injuries mount. I'd have to lean Oregon because they're far more explosive on offense, and because we don't really know what we'll get from Jarrett Lee, but I'm staying away from this game in terms of betting on it. |

In my mind that sums up Jordan Jefferson's career at LSU. Wow, I figured it would jump up in the 4 to 5 range in reaction to the Jefferson news. Surprised to hear it's still within a field goal. I think this is a stay-away game for me. If I had to pick, I'd take the Ducks at anything a field goal or less, but what concerns me is how their offense seems to slow down when going against bigger, stronger defensive lines. LSU's DTs are 294 and 300 lbs. That's what killed them all those years against USC, and it's what killed them in the nat'l championship last year vs. Auburn. Granted, LSU doesn't have Nick Fairley on the line, but they're traditionally very solid there so it concerns me.

And LSU usually has the speed at LB and in the secondary to defend when the opposition spreads out the field and runs outside the hashes. If LSU gets a decent offensive performance, they can beat Oregon. |

RE: LSU/Oregon
How has Les Miles defenses faired against a spread offense like oregon's? SEC doesnt exactly scream offensive efficiency. they did do a great job against A&M but i would rate oregons offense better

No one really runs the spread offense like oregon. They led the nation with 46+ points per game last season. So preparing for it is difficult. The Ducks' do have more of a spread option attack, though -- something like Auburn ran with Cam Newton last year and Urban Meyer ran at Florida for years. If you look at Les Miles' LSU teams vs. those two opponents, they've given up, 17, 29, 13, 51, 24 and 23 points the last few years (only counting Auburn with Newton last year). That's an average of about 26 points per game. If LSU can keep Oregon in that range, I'd say they have a good chance, even without Jefferson.

Heard Herbstreit talking the other day about how it "could be much worse" for LSU, because they have someone with experience like Lee to fill in. I know he's a senior and led a couple fourth-quarter comebacks last year, but just not sure how he fits with the offense, what his strengths/weaknesses are, etc.. |

RE: LSU/Oregon
My local has a parlay card with Oregon -4 printed on it. If I play the card I think that will be one of my selections.
