Little League World Series odds (old)
I've been researching the sh-- out of these eight Little League World Series teams, hoping to pick up a bit of an edge somewhere, since many of these teams are actually quite similar despite the huge discrepancy in odds.

Team I don't like: California. They've had too much travel and were lucky to even survive the West regional. They took a flight from Los Angeles to Newark and then had to charter a bus five hours into Williamsport. They arrived at 6 a.m. earlier this week and then had to be up a few hours later to take 54,354 photos. Also: Parents are having a tough time finding decently-priced flights, meaning these kids will be without mommy and daddy all week. Not a fan of the boys from Ocean View.

Team I like: Rhode Island. I might devote a whole post to this team, which I think could surprise some people and make a deep run. Can they win? Not quite sure yet. But of the teams whose odds are listed below, Rhode Island is the biggest mover. They opened at 17-to-1 and now find themselves at +1400.

Here are all the odds from 5Dimes. I don't believe any other book has these:

Georgia +170
California +250
Pennsylvania +400
Louisiana +400
Kentucky +600
Montana +1100
South Dakota +1400
Rhode Island +1400

RE: Little League World Series odds
I've heard good things about Rhode Island's bats..

But if I had to make a selection, I'd go with California +250

Teams from California have won the LLWS 6 times, including 2009, when Chula Vista beat Chinese Taipei 6-3.

We're two for two on disagreements. These California kids are going to stink themselves stupid. They're jet lagged, they're cranky and mommy and daddy won't be able to make the trip to dob their little tears.

These kids are going to collapse under the pressure.

I have to admit, my second choice would have been Pennsylvania

BUT- with a pitcher like Hagen Danner, California can beat the best.

This kid retired 18 straight and struck out 13 of the last 15 batters in the game that sent them to Williamsport

Mark my words: This Pennsylvania team is legit. They will roll to the U.S. final.

From my write up earlier today:

Quote:According to the Warner Robins Patriot, the Georgia team is staying in a 66-acre facility with nice rooms and an olympic sized pool. Sounds to me like a team kicking its feet up.

In addition, the Georgia kids have been spending considerable time talking with Little Leaguers from both Japan and China. Are these kids more focused on world trade or baseball? Based on everything I’ve gathered, I’m not so sure, which is why I’m not convinced that this team is worth the risk at just 1.7-to-1 odds.

I honestly think there is. Better team at plus money. Now, will the better team win? Who the hell knows. It's Little League. But definitely a +EV type of play right there.

Great game (for Little League). Kentucky made a great play at the plate at the end to seal a 1-0 win over Penn.

RE: Little League World Series odds
Did anyone see the game tonight where the Pennsylvania pitcher started crying when he was taken out of the game?

Now, normally I wouldn't think much of it. These are, after all, 11-13 year olds. They cry all the time. But this kid had thrown 3.1 innings of no-hit ball, his team was up 10-0 and about to mercy rule the opponent, and the only reason the coach took him out was because he wanted to save him for the next game (he had reached the 50-pitch limit).

Basically, it was the ultimate compliment! But the kid starts bawling on the field, like he didn't realize the strategy behind the move.

Even for the LLWS, it was just .... weird.

RE: Little League World Series odds
Pennsylvania was my pick to win the U.S. region, and I'm not turning back now. They've allowed 1, 0 and 0 runs in their three games, and yet they still managed to drop a game. They stand at 2-1 overall and remain very much alive.

I was skeptical of Georgia coming in and nothing I've seen from those rotten little brats has changed my mind. They deserve credit for scrapping out a win against Kentucky, but I think they'll be lucky to put up more than 1 run against Penn tonight.

These Penn pitchers are n-a-s-t-y. If they start swinging the bats like they did in regionals, look out.

Now if i make a wager, it is solely based on your analysis lol. only options is lay heavy juice on that ML or take -2.5 at plus money lol. actually think some little league games are safer bets than some major league teams lol
