I grabbed a piece of the draw at +175 a while back. Don't feel like investing any more into my shenanigans. On to the next one.

ARGH! WOODWORK!

Both teams with late winners that hit the post, apparently. So close!

I still love Dempsey, but I hate Dempsey right now.

Great hit...

And the American with the goal. Love that!

RE: L'pool at Fulham
I have never bet soccer previous to this game, but after looking at the live betting, wouldn't it be prudent to bet on goals in the last 10 minutes? I have always been under the impression that most goals in soccer are scored in the first and last ten minutes of a match.

Got data to back that theory? I'd never heard that, and would be curious to know how accurate it is. Not disputing your post, just curious.

I have never seen a study, just my time from watching, playing and talking soccer that there is a lot of scoring early and especially late.

Using this weeks EPL games as a -REALLY- small sample size, there were ten games and 30 goals scored in those game. Of those thirty goals, 1 was scored in the first ten, 9 in the last ten...if you extend it to first 15 and last 15 (1/3 of the match) 13 of the 30 goals scored this weekend were scored.

Now, the problem with this is that obviously teams down get desperate for scoring chances and their defense wilts, but I would think some interesting late match betting opportunities arise if you look hard enough.

I mainly grabbed Fulham in this spot to divest myself almost entirely from the game and netted a $3 loss...but I would think, especially if you can watch the match and get a sense for the flow, that picking spots can be very profitable late.

I actually just found an abstract of looking at goal scoring patterns of the Women's World Cup between 1993-1999 and it found that about 33% of goals were scored in the last 15 minutes of matches...which is fairly similar to what I found looking at the small sample.

RE: L'pool at Fulham
There really is no rhyme or reason for an overall statistic.

Different teams score in different spots... some seem to score in the last few minutes before a half. Others seem to score quickly after the halftime whistle. Others like the late game theatrics.

With the late red card and the several chances for both teams, it did feel like a goal would come in this particular match.

Soccer is a great sport to play (there are a lot of games played at different times than American sports) and the monetary disparity amongst teams creates a real divide between teams in a given league. Like others have said in previous threads, it's best to follow a couple of leagues and really get to know those teams.
