RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
Part of my goal with the ITG Team was to try and figure out a way to make it easy for followers to tail picks in a responsible way.

I figured out a pretty simple rankings system and decided to start tracking the team picks of the top 3 ranked members daily. I figure guys will drop out and jump in but over all it will be a nice consensus of picks from guys that are currently having success picking games for the ITG Team.

I simply don't have time to update the rankings day in and day out but my intentions were to update the rankings 1 or 2 times a week.

As of right now the top three are...

@thesportsmarket
@hosermctoque
@chadnov59

Their ITG Team picks for the last 5 days have resulted in a record of 22-13 (+12.51).

It is a small sample size but it is nice to see success in even a small sample size when you have an idea/theory in sports betting.

Keep your eyes on this.

RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
I posted this over in the tout zone but it is a stat that is 2 thread worthy in my opinion.

Since 4/23/2012 the current ITG team members are 683-611 (+113.15).

It isn't a group focus as much as trying to find certain guys that will rise to the top but still.

One member has only the Kings game tonight to cap a 16-0 run. @sportscheetah.

I know it is legit because I have tracked it. I guess that is what this thing is all about. It is all free and independently tracked. It is what you would want out of a legit pay site except you don't have to pay.

I have been "touting" his run since he was 6-0 so everyone that follows me on twitter has had a chance to grab a piece of the run as well.

Last night I watched as one of the ITG team members hit his 16th game in a row. Yep, you read that right. 16.

His twitter handle is @sportscheetah. I don’t know a whole lot about him but I am pretty sure he has a background in sports psychology and I know he has written at least one article for Todds Take. We have emailed back and forth a couple of times and he seems like a nice enough guy.

I initially turned him away from the team. He started posting his picks tagged with the #ITGteam hashtag and it actually upset me a little. He had just opened his twitter account, had something like 8 followers, and I felt like he was trying to piggyback off the team. I kindly told him that I was capped out and had no more room but that didn’t phase him. He basically replied that he would just keep posting his picks that way because he would be on the team eventually.

The more I thought about it the more I respected his approach. Hell, all I did was send out a tweet asking who would want to be a part of a sports betting team. Who was I to care who used what had come of it as a platform to prove themselves?

To make a long story short I gave him a shot. He officially joined up on 5/16 and that is when the streak started. I started giving him props at 6-0 and I haven’t stopped yet.

My best streak is 13-3. I have heard people talk of better streaks but I have never witnessed (or tracked) one, pick for pick, myself.

If the ITG Team does nothing else I will be glad that it gave me this. A chance to log 16 wins in a row into my spreadsheet. They aren’t my picks but at this point it almost feels like they are.

If you haven’t been following the ITG Team you should. I think we have something pretty unique on our hands.

Thanks Parrill. BTB has always made me work extremely hard for any accolades. I am still waiting for my ITGlife dancing fool.

@sportscheetah's 16-0 streak was snapped last night with the Celtics failing to cover. He rebounded tonight with another 3-0 performance on his team picks.

19-1.

It has been fun to watch.

Also posted in the Tout Zone...

After the 1st 1000 picks I came up with a simple ranking system for the ITG Team. The idea was for it to be my suggestion on the safest overall way to tail members of the team in a consistent way.

I thought about tracking the top 5 but ended up deciding that a possible 15 pick tail was irresponsible for me endorse. I went with the top 3.

I made a page at ITGlife.com, posted this -> If you were wondering who to follow on the ITG Team I would suggest the top 3 ranked members as a starting point. This page is where you can find their tracked record. Guys might drop out or jump into the top 3 but whoever is in at the moment will be tracked by myself. --- and started tracking on the May 16th.

The results so far.

5/16 - 5-4 (+1.64)
5/17 - 8-1 (+8.17)
5/18 - 3-6 (-3.05)
5/19 - 4-0 (+6.38)
5/20 - 2-3 (-0.63)
5/21 - 3-2 (+1.40)
5/22 - 7-3 (+4.63)
5/23 - 3-6 (-2.81)

Total = 35-25 (+15.73)

RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
While I feel like I am deeply immersed trying to learn more, get better, and make an impact as far as sports betting goes I have not watched any sporting event live or on TV since the Mavs/Thunders series.

I used to like sports betting because I liked sports. But as life is getting busier I only make time for sports because I like sports betting.

Does this happen to anyone else?

847-774 (+117.79) for all picks tracked.

I might be more proud of me actually logging over 1600 picks into google docs than I am of the team being 70 games over .500 and up +100.

We have talked a few times in this forum about point shaving but I wonder if there are any college kids out there taking money to cover spreads. I guess it would be reverse point shaving. Would there be anything morally wrong with this beyond the NCAA violation of taking money?

It depends if you know someone who is willing to do it?

RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
I also posted this at ITGlife.com. When we are all trying to be more efficient sports bettors something like this is actually a bit refreshing some times.

***********************

Tonight I was scrolling through my twitter timeline and noticed someone tweet “The Cardinals are gonna blow it.”

I knew they would hold on and here is why.

It was Friday the 22nd when AM walked up to me and asked me to place a bet for him. I was skeptical for two reasons. First, AM had been cut off by our bookie and second he works for me.

Against my better judgement I made a wager on the Rangers run line for him. They won 4 to 1. I got a late night text that read “ship it!!”.

The next morning he walked up to me and said “I feel like the Rockies are going to win tonight. Lets do it.”

“Wait a minute” I replied. ”Do you know who they are playing?”

“No. Who?”

“They’re playing the Rangers you idiot. You bet on them yesterday. If you are going to make a bet today bet on the Yankees.”

He mulled it over and then told me to take his winnings and parlay the Yankees with the Rangers run line.

“You just said you thought the Rockies were gonna win? Just bet the Yankees. Pay the juice.”

When the Rangers lost 11 to 7 AM chastised me for costing him his parlay and talking him off of +215 winner.

He explained to me that he just woke up that morning and the Rockies were on his mind. The same thing happened the day before. He was sitting at his desk when “Rangers!” just popped into his head.

He then told me if I wanted to win some money to make a bet on the Phillies.

“They already played.”

“Did they win?”

“Well yeah.”

“Told ya”

The next morning (Sunday) I played golf with AM and as soon as he showed up he claimed Tampa Bay was the play. This was at 9:30 a.m. The Rays were +160 dogs and they won that night 7 to 3.

The following day at work when he showed up at 11 he poked his head into my office and gave me the “told ya so” about the Rays. He followed it up with a tip on the Phillies. I was considering a parlay on the Rangers and the Nats so I asked him “Texas or Detroit?”

He thought for a second and replied “The Tigers.”

“Washington or Colorado?”

After a moment…”I don’t know…I don’t see it.”

The Phillies won 8 to 3. Both the Rangers and the Nationals lost.

This morning I tracked him down and asked him who the winner was going to be. By this time I was calling him “The Bet Whisperer.”

“I don’t know but the Cardinals have just really been on my mind.”

Now you know why I knew they were going to pull it out. I thought AM got cut off by our bookie because of large losses and slow settle ups. Maybe he really got cut off because of mystical powers.

I am looking forward to see who the Bet Whisperer picks tomorrow
