RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
A co-worker of mine made 18 bets earlier with our bookie. 14 Ncaab & 4 Nba. A discussion came up on how many he would win.

We ended up setting the o/u at 12.5. He would only bet me for $5 but I took it. I went with the under.

Now I am starting to wonder whether I should fade his picks entirely.

1 over
5 dogs.

I'll probably just hold back and hope my 5 bucks comes through.

RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
So you guys know that I put a lot of stock in line differences.

Out of all the games I have looked at (109) Kentucky at (-25.5) by far had the biggest line difference.

It was (-15.25) ... They didn't even come close to covering.

4 games have had a line difference of (-10) or more and none of those teams have covered.

Hell my bookie even had it at (-27.5) and it just looked too good to be true. Of course I didn't take it.

I hope someone took 'ole Western Kentucky.

RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
Line differences on the games I looked at tonight.

I have taken like 5 days off from seriously looking at any sport but I had some time to jump back into it tonight and I checked out 5 games.

Iowa - opp. line (155) avg. line (141.95) line diff. (+13.55)
Oregon - opp. line (-8) avg. line (-2.35) line diff. (-5.65)

Creighton - opp. line (160) avg. line (148.5) line diff. (+11.5)
UNC - opp line (-10) avg. line (-2.5) line diff. (-7.5)

Weber St. - opp. line (147.5) avg. line (140.55) line diff. (+6.95)
Loyola Mary. - opp. line (-4) avg. line (+2.25) line diff. (-6.25)

Norfolk St - opp. line (144) avg. line (139.45) line diff. (+4.55)
Florida - opp. line (-14.5) avg. line (-3.95) line diff. (-10.55)

Ohio - opp. line (115.5) avg. line (124.25) line diff. (-8.75)
South Florida - opp. line (-2.5) avg. line (+2.65) line diff. (-5.15)

I went crazy and took 6 out of the possible 12 based on the differences.

Oregon (u155.5)
Creighton (+10)
Weber St (+4)
Norfolk St (+14.5)
Ohio (+2.5)
South Florida (o115.5)

All lines are from Bookmaker, Betonline, 5dimes, and my Local.

RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
I am in the midst of approximately an 8 day ass kicking. It of course comes on the heels of the best run I have ever had. It is amazing how demoralizing a bad streak can be. It can make you question, your strategies, your philosophies, your bankroll management. It can make you question everything.

I have put myself out there and been lucky enough to gain quite a bit of support in what I am trying to do even though I still haven't quiet figured out what I am trying to do. I think out of all the plays I have posted I have only been ridiculed over one loss. Believe me, there are guys out there that get ripped for every loser they post. I am lucky though to have quite the network of sharp, funny, easy going, and supportive gamblers that really motivates me to keep on going and stay connected.

I think it is funny how "behind the scenes" sports betting still is. Go and google the images for "Professional Poker Players" and then Google the images for "Professional Sports Bettors" and check out the difference.

The point I am trying to make is if you enjoy this as much as I do, whether you are a member of this forum, or you just visit as a guest. Whether you are a professional, a middle of the road guy, or a fledgling sports bettor like myself then connect yourself.

Post often and make it a priority to interact. Go on twitter and rather than just reading your timeline communicate with the guys on there. You don't have to be a robot that only talks sports betting. Crack a joke every now and then.

The ups and downs of just winning and losing are way too nerve racking. We are not designed to lose 45% of the time and consider that a success.

Find ways to enjoy this that don't involve just making a bet and watching a game.

I am rambling now but I just imagine some guy that is going through the same ass kicking I am right now that hasn't plugged in, doesn't have a network, and who might be thinking about quitting this altogether and I just think that is a shame.

And if some guy does reach out and he does feel comfortable enough to tell you he has been struggling be sure and tell him it happens to everyone and above all make sure to tell him to keep grinding.

I have been lucky enough to be on the receiving end of those words on several occasions and not only does it feel good but in a way it makes me feel like I am apart of something bigger than that one bet I just lost.

Go back and check out those Google images for professional sports bettors. We need more sports bettors and not less. Be sure and support guys that want to do this and if you want to do this put yourself out there and let yourself be supported.

Now that I have had my Jerry Maguire moment, I am going to head over to Kinkos, get this published, and if you will kindly PM me your address I will mail it out to you all.

Is this your manifesto?

Because if so it's wonderful. Good advice for everyone in there. Good stuff man. Wish I had something deep to say in response, but pretty sure it would pale in comparison to what you posted.

So BetOnline's odds are not available in the Covers.com match ups anymore. Is that a 1st for today. I admittedly have not looked at any games in a couple of days.

RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
Also posted this (more edited) at ITGlife.com - A funny story I think.

I have two sports betting networks.

The one here and on twitter is obviously pretty large but the other one consists of about 7 guys. They are all guys I work with or that work for me. That network originated from a common bookie and really enticed me to explore this pastime more which has led me to this network.

I have talked about one guy in that network before. He is the one that sat down one night and after scanning lines for 10 minutes max placed 18 wagers. He went 8-9-1.

Well this same guy is currently on a streak over the last 6 days hitting 18 of his last 20 in NBA and NCAAB. 18-2-1 to be exact. Out of those 21 total plays I think that 15 or 16 have been on the favorite or the over.

Here is what is crazy. with these 21 plays he does straight bets, 2 team parlays, and 2 team teasers. It is his way to insure his parlays I guess.

So if he has two games he likes he will bet them straight, parlay them, and then tease them together. Sometimes he will throw a game he really likes into an extra parlay or teaser. So over these last 6 days with all of these bets he has probably made like 40-50 total wagers.

You get the idea of the sort of winning streak he is on. For someone like me who is really trying to be responsible about betting on sports it is demoralizing and amazing to watch at the same time. He currently has a return on investment (over the last 6 days) of well over 100%.

Today I walked into his office and he was loading it all into a spreadsheet.

I asked him "Are you some pro now? You used to never track anything."

"No, way." he said. "I have to put this down on paper as proof that I actually went on this run. When I start losing again, I will stop tracking it."

This, just as much as anything else, is why I love sports betting.

RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
I had a friend who hit 16 reverses in a row on 32 separate picks. He won 400 on each reverse. That was 10 years ago. I haven't seen anything close to that since. I don't think you will see 18 of 20 in the near future either.

He went 3-2 last night with those picks spread across 13 wagers. Lost 21 bucks. He's cooling off.

RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
That's pretty funny, ITG. It's sort of like personal finance. It's fun to keep track of everything and be really well-organized when you're making a lot of money. If you're not? Personal finance organization usually gets tossed out the window. Just like tracking your wagers in sports betting. Not much fun to see WHY you're losing and really analyze and dissect your draining account.

RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
I am trying to break out of a sports gambling slump.

Not a win/loss slump but a process slump.

I am finding out more and more why they call it "The grind" and I have more and more respect for those that have had success long term.

RE: ITG's sports gambling corner
So going into last night the Spurs had lost 2 in a row ats and had gone under 2 in a row as well. They are in the top 3 in the league in both ats record and o/u record so I figured why not.

Cover and over.

They both hit.

Why can't it just always be that easy?

Holy Sh*t! I made the BTB twitter follow list! I know there aren't many "I's" to choose from but I will take my place along side Incarcerated Bob and the International Sports Betting association none the less.
