Interesting College Hoops Trends
Post interesting trends that you find here.
I'll start with this: In BCS conferences ... If a team loses by 15 or more points in the first meeting, it is 3-17 straight up in the second meeting, losing by an average of 11.6 points per game (2011-12 season, only). Straight Up results: Two of the three wins came in the Pac-12: -- Oregon lost by 16 to Washington and won by 25 in the 2nd meeting. -- Arizona State lost by 21 to Utah and won by 5 in the 2nd meeting. The only other win came recently, when LSU defeated Alabama by 9 points after losing the first matchup by 16. I haven't gone into depth, like if the first meeting was on the road, how the team fares when it becomes the host, etc. Just thought it was interesting to see. The teams that have been blowing out the competition in conference play have been rather consistent. ATS Results: I don't have them posted below, but overall, the teams that lost the first game by 15 or more are 8-12 ATS in the rematch. It'd be interesting to expand this out to mid-major conferences. I heard a stat that teams that are getting blown out on the road in the first meeting, are winning the second meeting at home at a high percentage, but I have yet to see any data that supports this. (Also, I don't have the H/A splits broke down below. Forgot to jot that down )Here is a breakdown of each of the games that fit this criteria: Maryland L15 --against-- Duke, L18 in 2nd meeting Wake Forest L36 NC State, L11 (2nd meeting...) Baylor L18 Kansas, L12 Oklahoma State L41 Baylor, L4 Oklahoma L38 Missouri, L3 Texas A&M L24 Iowa State, L23 Texas Tech L22 K-State, L9 Rutgers L21 West Va., L24 St. John's L20 GTown, L10 Nebraska L24 Wisconsin, L5 Nebraska L31, Ohio State, L34 LSU L15 Alabama, W9 South Carolina L15 Kentucky, L34 Oregon L16 Washington, W25 Oregon St L15 Washington, L3 Washington State L17 Oregon, L9 UCLA L16 Cal, L10 Utah L26 Arizona, L9 Arizona State L21 Utah, W5 Arizona State L15 Colorado, L14

RE: Interesting College Hoops Trends
Pretty interesting. But is it surprising? How do these teams fare ATS?
