Funny you say that, because I sadly put a degen $30 bet on it. But then....

3 and fucking 0 people. Regardless of the win itself (which I also cashed along with Chief), VV's played moved almost 5 points in our direction. That's exactly the kind of play I'm hoping we can get out of this sort of thing. Let's go.

3-0 so far. Good stuff! If you post a win on here, you should get one rep point. Post a loss and you lose one. BTB, whatcha think about that? Can you deduct rep points?

I kind of like this thread better because you only get one game per month and have to market it. If we can get a lot of people doing it, could be fun.

RE: Game of the month thread
Wow-- didn't realize there's only today and tomorrow to come up with a game-of-the-month. I've been laying on a beach in Mexico the last 3 weeks, and have been paying absolutely no attention to baseball. Of course, my service has still released 3 to 4 plays a day-- my clients demand plays, and so I accommodate them. And, the pressure will be on with this Play-Of-The-Month, as it will be a 1000 star play.

And to increase the pressure-- our 500 star locks are a sterling 23-0 since July 1st. If you wish to check our record for yourself, you can go to our website-- http://www.ifyoubelievethiscrapsendyourmoney.th (if this site is busy-- as it so often is-- our alternate site is http://www.clickhereyousucker.al)

So, the play you've all been waiting for---

The Play-Of-The-Month--

SEATTLE +110

RE: Game of the month thread
This is my first foray until the Game of the Month Thread, but I wouldn't post here unless I had any doubt in this play. This will be my strongest position of the summer. As I had posted in the Primetown thread, I will move over to hear...

USA vs Mexico at Estadio Azteca Wednesday, August 15. This is one of the top 10 rivalries in international soccer. This means so much to each side. It's not just about soccer, it's political, emotional, and cultural.

USA has had some decent success in the past winning World Cup qualifying games on US soil in 2005 and 2009.

That's where the positive news about the USA ends in this write up.

Since the win in February 2009, the United States has faced Mexico 3 times. In all of 3 of those games, the US has been soundly beaten in all 3 of those games.

The first was a 5-0 beating at MetLife Stadium in July 2009 in the Gold Cup Final. The USA had a B / C team in that match and it was close at the half, but Mexico blew it open in the 2nd Half as Chicharito (Javier Hernandez) had his breakout game in a Mexico uniform. That began a change in the Mexican philosophy against the US as confidence grew.

A few weeks later, both teams met at Estadio Azteca. Each team had their A squad in the lineup. The US coming off a shock win over Spain in the Confederations Cup and having Brazil on the brink in the final. Mexico coming off the big win over the US in the Gold Cup Final. The tension was high as many felt this was the United States best chance to win on Mexican soil.

Going back to 1937, the United States has never won on Mexican soil against Mexico. The Mexican team has a 23-0-1 record against the US on Mexican soil. So, the odds were against the US. However, the US sent shockwaves around Mexico as they took the lead inside of 15 minutes on a Charlie Davies goal. That lead did not last long as Mexico tied the score a few minutes later and ultimately got the winner 10 minutes from full time. In a battle of the US in its best form in years, they still could not beat Mexico on Mexican soil.

Fast foward 23 months later, the United States faced Mexico in the final of the 2011 Gold Cup. In a battle at the Rose Bowl, the US charged to a 2 goal lead in the opening half hour, but Mexico shocked the US scoring 4 unanswered goals to win the matchup 4-2. It was that day that American soccer fans realized that Mexico had a leg up on the US.

As the game approaches on Wednesday, here's some things to keep in mind:

Mexico has just won Gold in Men's soccer at the Olympics. Yes, a fantastic achievement, done with a mostly Under 23 team. This is not the squad that will be facing the US on Wednesday. In fact it will be a more veteran team that has a lot of experience against the United States.

The Mexico Olympic Team will be honored on Wednesday at Estadio Azteca. This will only fuel the energy of what is always an electric crowd.

Wednesday's matchup is an international friendly / exhibition. While most believe an exhibition is an exhibition, nothing is friendly between these two teams. The fans, the players, etc. care way too much about this rivalry not to put everything on the line in this game. From my experience going to Mexico City for the 2009 World Cup Qualifier, the 3 days prior to the match felt like Super Bowl Week. Television, newspapers, chatter.

The United States will not have the services of Jozy Altidore, Carlos Bocanegra, Michael Bradley, and Clint Dempsey. Arguably 4 of the US's 6 best players. The US doesn't have a lot of top end talent, so this is a lot to miss.

Only 3 of the players on the US roster have played an international match on Mexican soil: D. Beasley, L. Donovan, and T. Howard. Experience is so important when dealing with the elements at the Azteca where you cannot hear the person next to you.

Landon Donovan just finished playing 90 minutes in Los Angeles, now must fly down to Mexico City for a Wednesday evening game. That's not a lot of rest for the US's most important player.

Last and perhaps most importantly is the altitude. Estadio Azteca is over a mile high making one of the highest altitude stadiums in international soccer. Conditions are extremely difficult there and as the game goes on the advantage to Mexico is drastic as opposition's conditioning is put to the test.

BetOnline has the line currently at -138 for Mexico t win. I'd play this straight up until -300. This is a difficult spot for the US. Mexico on a wave of confidence, US missing key players, and playing in the ultimate hornet's nest for US soccer. Mexico will win this game and do so rather easily.

Play: Mexico ML (-138)

Anyone know any of the recent lines for a USA @ Mexico match? The last CONCACAF qualifier in Mexico City perhaps?

I did forget about the most recent meeting... an August 2011 friendly in Philadelphia.

Mexico scored early, but the US got the equalizer in the 73rd minute. The US will employ a similar lineup on Wednesday, but will be missing Bradley and Bocanegra from that match. In my opinion, Bradley is the US's best player given his position on the field (central midfield). He's the engine of the team. Without him, they are much different.
