RE: Fading Losing Streaks -- Time to Fade the Royals?
Nothing is embarrassing when it comes to the Royals anymore. Luckily, I tried not to buy into the hype as much as everyone else this season.

But it's hard not to get your hopes up when everyone around you in March is like, "Yeah, the Royals aren't gonna suck! We might even make the playoffs!"

I wish I hadn't been so prophetic with the OP. Sarcastic LOL

Today might be the day. After his loss against Detroit Bruce Chen made a twitted apologizing to the fans of KC and promising things will get better. Plus he's been good career wise against Toronto, Morrow is 2-4 with an era north of 5.5 career against KC, and KC tends to hit righties much better than lefties. Last game of awful home stand, they'll be up for this one.

I like Chen. He doesn't have great stuff, but he's a very smart pitcher. It's extremely hard to sweep a wrap-around series and Toronto has to leave for Baltimore right after the game. A nighttime getaway game is a rarity.

It's a good spot to play the Royals. As good as any that you're going to get in the midst of a 10-game losing streak.

RE: Fading Losing Streaks -- Time to Fade the Royals?
Interesting take from SI.com, which shockingly has the Royals rated 7th (!!!!) in their power rankings based on every team's WAR winning percentage.

"Here's a case where a team's WAR winning percentage can be more telling than its current record. Judging by wins and losses alone, the Royals have been atrocious. But their offensive line of .254/.316/.408 is pretty close to league average and their pitching hasn't been disastrous. The problem has been when the hits have come: Kansas City has hit just .198 in high-leverage situations. The Royals don't have to play much better in order to start winning games -- they just need to start coming through in the clutch."

This might be a case of buying low on a team that isn't nearly as bad as the record indicates.

That's also under the assumption that they WILL improve in that area of hitting. How have their current players hit in those situations in the past? I know they are fairly young, so it really might not be very telling.

Can we just go ahead and agree that no one will come on here today and say that "today might be the day."

Derek Lowe has a nice distraction tonight. His house in Naples, FL was broken into. Had numerous things taken, including his 2004 World Series ring.

Today could be the day.

I'll let you know if I decide to go as I'm 0-2 this year (first two games). That means they're 8-4 when I watch on TV.

Maybe secretly you should be hoping for failure so you can sell at the deadline and promote some of those stud arms in the minors. I'm semi confident that between Monty, Odorizzi and Lamb at least 2 of those guys could pitch better than guys in your current rotation.

And now that my boy Lorenzo Cain is coming back all will be well. He's still got 20/20 potential and I refuse to give up on him until he's either dead or out of baseball.

As of 4:12 pm, I still haven't decided. Beauty of it is that I can just sit wherever I want since there will probably be about 2400 people there with an announced attendance of around 10k.

Even your curse can't break this effing losing streak. I'm going into hibernation on here until the Royals win again.

RE: Fading Losing Streaks -- Time to Fade the Royals?
I've been automatically betting against KC since lost #6. And, if you're betting streaks, you've got to be lucky and hope a team that's losing is at home, and vice-versa if you're on a winning streak.(otherwise, the line gets out of hand). So far, so good, as I only had to lay -131 their first road game. Even if they keep losing, you probably won't be able to bet, if you're like me and won't lay anything over -145 or so. Waiting for tomorrow's line.

Lucky win on the under. Wind pretty much died by gametime. 24 men left on base.

Ugly. Win 60, lose 60, other 40 determine your season. That one's in the other 40 category. Happy to escape with a W.

Time to take the Martingale approach on the Royals. No way they lose out the rest of the season. See ya
