College football trends for this week's games
I was going to compile a bunch of trends that I thought might be useful for this week's college football games, but halfway through I began to hate myself and decided to stop.

I'm not a trend guy — at all — so I aborted and decided to post here instead of on the main page. Consider this to be the first of many outtakes...

Boise State is 12-4 ATS as a road favorite the last three years. In other news, Broncos coach Chris Petersen dominates all ATS categories. Boise State’s only ATS setback on the road last year was a costly one: a 34-31 loss at Nevada near the end of the season that ended the Broncos’ national title hopes.

—Mike Gundy and Oklahoma State have won seven in a row ATS as a road favorite, dating back to 2009. Gundy is also 4-1 ATS in road openers since 2006. The Cowboys’ last ATS loss as a road favorite came in a 30-17 win at Colorado as 17.5-point favorites in 2008.

Penn State — favored by 7.5 at Temple this weekend — has won five in a row and 9 of its last 10 as a road favorite. The Nittany Lions had only one game as an away favorite last year, but they haven’t lost ATS in that situation since a 34-23 loss at Iowa as 7.5-point favorites in 2008.

Arkansas has covered in eight straight regular season games dating back to last season. The Razorbacks’ last ATS loss came against Auburn on Oct. 16, 2010, when they fell 65-43 as 3.5-point road underdogs. This year, Arkansas has covered as 37.5 and 41.5-point favorites. The Razorbacks are listed as 22-point favorites over Troy this week at most books.

—Since 2001, Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz is 24-10-2 ATS (70.5%) off a loss. This week, the Hawkeyes will host Pittsburgh as 3-point favorites after opening as a four-point favorite. Seventy percent of the public is backing Iowa, who lost 44-41 in triple overtime last week against rival Iowa State.

—The under has hit in eight straight Boston College games, including last week’s 30-3 loss to Central Florida, which had an over/under of 43.5. This week, the Eagles will take on Duke, another team that’s struggled to put up points so far in 2011. Duke scored 21 points in a season-opening loss to FCS Richmond and managed just 14 in last week’s blowout loss to Stanford. The total is set at 47.5 or 48 at most books.

You say you're not a trend guy, but I found this interesting. Good stuff.
I feel like some are probably more useful than others, but still, interesting enough. Thanks for posting.

RE: College football trends for this week's games
Here's an Idaho trend:

Vandals are 1-10 in road openers since 2000 (lost by avg of 29), yet they are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 (covered v. Nebraska, NMSU, SoCal, Mich St; didn't cover against Arizona and lost 70-0). The one win was New Mexico State in 2009.

Idaho's getting 35.5 against A&M.
