College Football Picks
There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of movement with the Reputation points for guys, so I thought maybe an idea like this would help it along..

How bout a thread where you are welcome to post your picks you feel really strongly about, in order to possibly assist the community here if they're on the fence with a game. The catch (ah, yes, there's always a catch!), your Reputation can go up or down based on your pick's outcome Hmm Meaning.. if you pick a winner, BTB (or anyone who used that pick and actually wagered money on it) will grant you +Reputation.. but if you lose your posted pick, your Rep will go down.. Peek

I think if your pick is a winner or loser, BTB can add or deduct 1 pt automatically.. and anyone else who bet on that pick can also add or deduct pts if it made them money, or cost them a few bucks.

What do you think of this idea, BTB? If this is a good idea (hint: it is) then we can also start a thread for NFL picks. I'm willing to put my reputation on the line if it will benefit the community here. Heck, we can even do a CFL thread if there's interest there. I tweeted the BC Lions -1 back on Monday as this weekend's best CFL bet, and it easily cashed. I'm 10-3 last 13 CFL.

Obviously, I'm not intending this to be a thread where you can throw out a dozen picks every weekend.. I'm thinking more along the lines of a Best Bet type of play, where you feel very strongly about a game (or two, or three) and are actually betting real money on yourself. Fake picks which you're not actually wagering on yourself - need not apply.

If this is a good idea (Hint, Hint: IT IS), then let me get it started with my biggest play of the weekend, tomorrow..

OREGON -3 (-115) (Pinnacle)

RE: College Football Picks
Excellent idea...put me down for:

1. First Half Line on Texas -14
Who knows what happens with the Longhorns this year, but they've been really quiet thus far this preseason and I think they have something to prove. I'm not sure they cover 24.5 for the game cause I like what Rice has on the offensive side of the ball, but I think Texas comes out strong and gets there in the first half.

2. LSU/Oregon - Under 54
Not sold that Oregon runs up and down the field on LSU and I think with the craziness in Baton Rouge over the last few weeks the offense struggles to keep drives going. I see this game in the 40s.

Also looking at, though not officially on these yet:
Fresno State +10 - the number looks like a sucker bet to me
Florida State -29 - Four TDs is shaky for me, but high on FSU right now
Colorado State -6.5 - Fade the Locksley gents...fade the Locksley

Whoa, so if put up a donut does that mean my reputation goes to negative?

Scared

RE: College Football Picks
I look at the games in segments on Saturday's. I do pre-3:30 games, then later I look at 3:30 games. Then the night games, etc.

So, I've got two plays in so far.

Air Force -34.5 v. S. Dakota: S. Dakota faced two FCS option teams last year and gave up 11 TDs in those games. Against a FBS option, I expect them to be overwhelmed despite a senior-laden group. USAF hung 65 last year and 72 the year before in Week 1.

Utah St./Auburn o57: Chizik said he's going to go uptempo with the offense. If they run 90 plays, I imagine they score at least 6 times with the athleticism that they have. Utah St. has enough talent and weapons to do a little damage against Auburn's inexperienced D. Plus, they're playing free and easy with nothing to lose. Auburn strikes me as the kind of team to mail it in late with a big lead. With this number, I asked myself, "How many points does Utah St. need to score to put the game over?" I said 14 minimum. I think that can be done. Looks like a 48-14, 48-21 game to me.

Still looking at the later games.
Just added Fordham +43. Hard to justify a 5-6 FCS team, but that's a huge number of points with a UConn offense that is completely rebuilt, a new coach, and a downgrade at LB against a team that will run an option all day.

I can't see UConn going into the 50s, so one TD for Fordham should be a cover.

As a bettor who backed Patrick's advice on NIU -10 yesterday, I second this notion.

We need more Patrick in 2011! Panic Panic Panic

Any thoughts on West Virginia and Marshall going over. Holgorsen ran teams always put up lots of points. Can Marshall fill the gap?

I heard the weather forecast is bringing the Total down. It's dropped to 52.5. A couple respected Sharps I follow on Twitter have said they like Under.
