CBB Advanced Stats: Help
I have been starting to do more research of teams on statsheet.com (I recommend for stat and trend bettors) and there are advanced stats that I am confused on and I believe it may help others on here. Please explain what each means for players:

Offensive Rating
Floor Percentage
Shot Percentage
Effective Field Goal Percentage
True Shooting Percentage
Free Throw Rate
Possession Percentage
Scoring Possessions
Points Produced
Offensive Rebound Percentage
Defensive Rebound Percentage
Assists Percentage
Turnover Percentage
Steal Percentage
Block Percentage
Plus Minus
Plus Minus Average
Roland
Roland Average

I know this is a lot but it would help me if nobody else. I'm wanting to breakdown matchups more and knowing these terms will help. This site is great for comparing players and teams against each other.

These are used one way or another to determine a player's efficiency. You always want to know what goes into a stat to help determine what you should get out of it. It also helps knowing a player's tendencies with most of these. For example, comparing a slasher to a shooter is going to make some of these irrelevant because they compile different stats with their style of play. Also, some use subjectivity when determining a number, so those would be more in-line with 'eye of the beholder'. A lot of these come from Dean Oliver.

Offensive Rating - This is used to measure a player's efficiency. You take their points, divide it by their individual possessions and multiply by 100. There's criteria for 'individual possessions', not sure if you're looking to calculate it, though.
Floor Percentage - An individual's scoring possessions divided by their individual possessions. Once again, these are the generalities. If you're looking to calculate them, there's some subjectivity involved.
Shot Percentage - You mean field goal percentage?
Effective Field Goal Percentage - A stat that accounts for 2 and 3 point FG's. You take their (FG's made + .5 * 3's made) and divide that by their FG's attempted. It adjusts for the fact that a 3 is worth one more point than a 2.
True Shooting Percentage - This is similar to effective FG% but it also adds FT's. To figure it out, take the player's points and divide it by (Their FG's attempted + .44 multiplied by their FT's attempted & then multiply that by 2 orrrr [PTS/((FGA +.44 * FTA) *2)].
Free Throw Rate - Free throw percentage?
Possession Percentage - Estimates the percent of possessions a player uses while playing. A stat for individual offense.
Scoring Possessions - The amount of credit a player gets for a score. Around 25% for the assist and 75% for the shot, but then it depends on difficulty.
Points Produced - This uses shots, assists, and rebounds. It's even more subject than scoring possessions so not getting into it.
Offensive Rebound Percentage - A long formula that informs you how effective a player is at rebounding on offense while on the floor.
Defensive Rebound Percentage - See above ^ only opposite end of the floor
Assists Percentage - Turnover Percentage - Steal Percentage - Block Percentage - I think the theme is apparent
Plus Minus - Estimation of a player's impact on their team's point total, while they are on the floor.
Plus Minus Average - An average of that number for the player. Not one I use or am completely familiar with.
Roland & Roland Average - My great-grandfather & father's name Hmm - or just a player's on-cour plus/minus subtracted by the plus/minus when they're off the court.

RE: CBB Advanced Stats: Help
Thanks Ryan. That gives me a better understanding. I didn't want to just look at the numbers or percentages and say well this guy is doing good or bad for the team without really understanding what they mean. I think it will help when a player isn't playing in the game either and you can see what kind of production the team is missing without him and compare his backup.
