Betting swimming exactas
Hey all. New poster, but I like this place. Been around a while and post at a few locations..... I thought I would throw a math question out to see if anyone has an opinion.
I want to make a difficult bet with my local and if I can prove the mathematics, he will take it. For the 200m IM medley on the mens side, I want to bet Lochte and Phelps in an exacta box. Currently Lochte is anywhere from -130 to -210 and Phelps is anywhere from ev to +175 looking at a few books (including my two agent sites). Everyone else is 12-1 or worse. So can anyone help me with the math it takes to adjust the odds for "place" and then determine exacta payouts for them finishing 1-2? Thanks, OtherMoachist El Dumpo Capper (@OtherMoachist) I do my best work typically twice a day, seated on porcelain. |

RE: Betting swimming exactas
I am the worst at these types of questions. We have a few horse racing geeks in here that can hopefully help. Good luck with the bet if you can place it.

RE: Betting swimming exactas
So, in horse numbers, you are looking at say an 8-5 fav (-130) and a 2-1 (close to the +175). But horse really depend on money in the pool & who bet it.
I say use baseball ML the closest to -130 & +175 if you really need the bet. Otherwise taking 2 favs in a small numbered horse race usually like this would get ya around $8-10 on a $2 EXX BX |

RE: Betting swimming exactas
Thanks guys. I just offered him 5-1 on Phelps-Lochte and 3.5-1 on Lochte-Phelps. Since it is seems highly unlikely any one else will jump into third, I like this bet.
Unlike Horse racing, I am not putting up the money first so it is 5 to 1 and not 5 for 1. Etc. Let's see if he bites. El Dumpo Capper (@OtherMoachist) I do my best work typically twice a day, seated on porcelain. |
