RE: A few thoughts on Joe Paterno
I'm about to the end of my rope for feeling any shred of sympathy for Joe Pa. I'm just scared of where this story is going to go next, because it seems like it's going to get a LOT worse.

We are just seeing the tip of the iceberg, imo. Its gonna get worse, no doubt

RE: A few thoughts on Joe Paterno
The fact that Joe Pa said he remembered McQueary "vaguely" telling him about "horseplay" in 2002 says it all to me. McQueary went to his dad, then brought his dad with him to Paterno ... to tell them about "horseplay" in the locker room?

That doesn't add up, Joe.

This is still jumping to conclusions, but I'm really starting to think that Paterno knew a ton more than he's willing to admit.

RE: A few thoughts on Joe Paterno
I will preface this by saying it's just a rumor currently...but, Pittsburgh radio personality Mark Madden, who wrote about the child sex abuse scandal for the Beaver County Times back in April, brought this up on Boston radio station WEEI.

Quote:Madden stated that two "prominent columnists" are currently investigating a rumor that Jerry Sandusky's Second Mile Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed to serve underprivileged youths, was "pimping out young boys to rich (Penn State) donors." Madden went on to say that Jerry Sandusky was told by those running the show at Penn State football that Sandusky had to retire after allegations made in 1998 that the defensive coordinator was guilty of "improper conduct with an underage male." Sandusky, thought by some to be Joe Paterno's successor at the time, abruptly and somewhat shockingly retired from coaching in 1999.

It actually gets worse. Madden went on to say "When Sandusky quit, everybody knew; not just at Penn State. It was a very poorly kept secret around college football, in general. That is why he never coached in college football again and retired at the relatively young age of 55, young for a coach." Madden also called the Second Mile Foundation "the perfect cover" for Sandusky's scheme.

This rumor seems to have legs since Madden has been pretty accurate from the start, according to the writer of this piece.

RE: A few thoughts on Joe Paterno
I know this is getting of the important issues at hand and back to football, but I was thinking.

Anyone else think McQueary still being able to coach is a freaking joke? Heard a lot of people discussing this today and all seem to think it's absurd. Any one disagree (or have ANY reasons whatsoever he should be allowed)?

Also, I think this says a GREAT deal about how much JoePa actually did as head coach. Line with JoePa +3, line without JoePa (+ 1 week of distractions) +3.5. Hmmm?
