Good to see another Aussie around. Welcome!

I'll participate where I can, but I can't really offer much just yet because I don't know anything!

I have to say ... this is an awesome idea! Hat wave

I'm scared of how tired I'm going to be by the end of it, but I'm in for this thing. All the way. Horror and Surprise

As for the first game, maybe I've just been burned by one too many backdoor covers over the first few games of this college bball season, but I'd lean toward taking Gonzaga -7 in the first half if the play is on the Zags. They have a game underneath their feet already so will likely come out sharper than WSU. Plus, establishing authority down low will be a priority early in the game. In the second half, sometimes teams tend to get away from that.

I like Gonzaga -7 First Half.

A local article on the preview.

So we'll just keep posting our thoughts and leans and 45 minutes before a voice will beckon 45 minutes before tip-off and we'll all know the way? This is the best way to do it and seems intriguing.

Is there a way to post all the future games somewhere? Maybe start a separate thread? If someone has a thought on a 4am game and they're not able to be around, I'd still like their information. Perhaps just start a "Future 24HR CBB Thoughts"...

Find me here.

RE: 24 HOURS OF BASKETBALL BEGINS TONIGHT!
Sweet. I'm in as well. Haven't bet much college hoops so far this year but I'll do my best to contribute.

For the first game, I took some time to look this up. Wazzu has always struck me as a team that's good at home and awful on the road but I wasn't sure so here are the Cougars' road ATS numbers in recent seasons.

2010: 3-7-1 ATS
2009: 5-8 (includes 74-69 L @ Gonzaga as 9.5-point dogs)
2008: 4-7-1
2007: 9-4 (includes 51-47 W @ Gonzaga as 3-point dogs)
2006: 6-6

That's a total of 27-32-2 in the last five, 12-22-2 in the last three years. Just FYI.

I second this. Good idea, Parrill.

I am Beyond (get it?!) excited about this. 11:15 can't get here soon enough; send us the voice from the heavens!

Should we have a separate thread for each game? Seems like that will keep posts from getting lost as we go.

RE: 24 HOURS OF BASKETBALL BEGINS TONIGHT!
I like Gonzaga -12. I don't see the Cougars (who love to chuck up the 3-point shots) going into McCarthey and shooting lights out. That's what they'll have to do to stay in this game. The Zags should dominate the boards, so second chance points shouldn't come often for Washington State.

The only thing that concerns me with a double digit favorite against a team that loves to shoot, is a back-door cover. If they are down 15 or so in the final minute/minute + half, we'll be sweating it out.

Still, my play would be on Gonzaga -12. Popcorn

What do you guys think about a total? Again, I'm going to stay out of this mostly.

Unless I like a game so damn bad I just can't help myself. Grin

I'd expect a very efficient Gonzaga offense who has a huge size advantage in the frontcourt. They drew a ton of fouls against Eastern Wash, and I'd expect the same thing again tonight. Both teams can play with tempo, so high efficiency and enough tempo to get this over the total.

I like over 140 (140.5 at some books)

RE: 24 HOURS OF BASKETBALL BEGINS TONIGHT!
Hi all,

I LOVE the idea of seeing/contributing to the later games earlier somehow. I, unfortunately, can't stay up for 24 hours straight.

This rookie's thoughts, not that they really mean anything: One thing that really gets me about this time of the year is how hard it is for teams to gel, as someone said a bit earlier. Unless the team has 2 or 3 4-year starters, or was blessed with a bunch of McDonald's All-American's for this year, it seems as most teams play to the level of their competition this time of year. I wish I had data to back me up on that, to be honest. Anyone else think the same way?

Anyways, I think the best bet for the WSU-Gonzaga game is to take Gonzaga and give up the points.

All the best!

Eric

I like the over total as well... up tempo game. Both teams have guys who are solid at the foul line. I wouldn't touch the point total... if I did I would lean Wash St.

UPDATE: On second thought, I like Wash St. a bit with all of those points. Seems like an awful lot of points to be favored by this early in the season.

Did I miss something? Why "can't" you? Got a job? Kids? A family to feed?

RE: 24 HOURS OF BASKETBALL BEGINS TONIGHT!
Further to the point of revenge I mentioned earlier, I don't believe in factoring in the Revenge Factor in College Basketball, unless it's a rivalry game and a long history between the 2 squads. College kids just don't care about it as much as the Pros.

For that reason, I don't give Gonzaga the added edge for that factor.

I think Washington State is going to be the more excited team at this time slot and will shoot pretty well. Definitely well enough to hang around. This should also lead to the Over (141.5 @ Pinnacle), which may be the best play for this game, but I'm betting on this game State +12.5

I'm clearly in the minority for this game tho, so good luck to Gonzaga backers.

For those who missed it: We'll start with a BTB Bankroll of $500. It's your guys' job to grow it. Based on your suggestions, I'll determine the bet and the bet size (anywhere between $20 and $100). Twenty-five percent of the profit (assuming there is some) will be donated to charity.

Minimum donation: $100.

Charity is still TBD, as I'm seeking suggestions on Twitter. But if you want to throw a suggestion into the pile, feel free.

It just feels right to donate the money to Big Brother, Big Sister or a local boys club in State College.
