A tweet by Incarcerated Bob shortly before the first game of the Clippers-Grizzlies series on Sunday started a media firestorm and set off rumors that weren’t true.
In the tweet, Incarcerated Bob alleged that Floyd Mayweather placed a $1.8 million bet on the Clippers +6 at seven different sportsbooks.
The Clippers trailed by as many as 27 points late in the second half before pulling off one of the most incredible comebacks in NBA history, a 99-98 victory.
That means a payoff of roughly $1.5 million for Mayweather.
Or at least that’s what the dozens of media outlets that ran with the story thought.
MLive.com’s Josh Slagter reported Wednesday that Mayweather didn’t place a bet on the Clippers.
The source? Mayweather himself.
“No,” Mayweather said. “Why they making these lies, these rumors. Somebody text me that. No, it’s not true.”
No disrespect to MLive, but this story could have been reported on Monday, when it became apparent that Mayweather didn’t have a winning ticket to tweet out to his massive following.
Mayweather always tweets out his winners, and never passes up on an opportunity to promote his degenerate tendencies.

UPDATE (8:42 a.m. PT): Incarcerated Bob tweets, “Floyd hasn’t posted any tickets since his jail sentence was announced.”
