We’ve never had much of an opinion either way on former NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe, but after hearing him Monday morning on Colin Cowherd’s radio show, we’re new fans.
Bledsoe, whose 14-year career included stints with the Patriots, Bills and Cowboys and is now in the wine-making business, had this to offer on Twitter after making a few picks in the NFL Divisional Round this past weekend.
Bledsoe’s picks? Denver, Green Bay, Seattle and New England. Ouch.
But at least he was right about one game, when his former team knocked off the Texans as 9.5-point home favorites.
“I’ll throw this out there,” Bledsoe told Cowherd during the broadcast. “Any of you guys who are following me on Twitter, you’d probably be well-advised if you’re actually gambling to take all of my picks and bet the opposite.
“My record is just atrocious. That’s just a disclaimer out there. I might throw out some picks for you, but if you bet with me, do so at your own peril.”
Bledsoe clearly isn’t schooled in the art of pick-selling, where it’s best to lie about your intellect, lie about your record and, shoot, lie about the fact of whether or not you’re even alive.
Now, given that we still have the Ravens to win the Super Bowl, we’re not sure what to think of Bledsoe saying Baltimore will “make it a game” as 9-point underdogs against the Patriots in the AFC Championship.
“I think the Patriots probably win the game,” Bledsoe said. “I don’t know if anybody in the NFL makes as big a difference on their entire football team as Ray Lewis does. Everybody feels like they’ve got to pay more attention to detail, they’ve got to be intense when Ray is out there. I just, they’re gonna make it a game. I think it’s gonna be a great game and I’m really excited to watch it transpire.”
Sounds like he’d be on the Ravens +9, no? Run for the hills!
