ESPN Conference Bloggers Week 9: A pair of SEC writers continue strong runs picking ATS

October 27, 2012

Each week during the college football season, a group of nine ESPN bloggers covering the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC attempt to pick outright winners for every game involving their conference’s teams.

But they also try to predict the final scores.

So, naturally, we’ve been tracking their selections and using their projected scores to determine who they’d place a theoretical bet on. Mostly, we’re interested in knowing if any of these conference experts would be any good at betting on or against the teams they know best.

The bloggers have done well so far picking outright winners, but their stats have been padded in non-con play. Only four of them have winning against-the-spread records, led by the two SEC bloggers (Edward Aschoff and Chris Low), who are both hitting at or close to 60 percent.

Interestingly enough, they both think Mississippi State can hang well within the point spread against top-ranked Alabama today.
