The states of Kentucky and North Carolina will have all of the bragging rights heading into the 2012-13 college basketball season as four of the five favorites to win the National Championship are located within their borders.
Kentucky is the overall favorite at +500 followed by Indiana (+675), NC State (+700), Louisville (+750) and North Carolina (+1000). Surprisingly enough, Duke is not one of the teams representing the state of North Carolina.
The Blue Devils have the 11th-best odds at 20-to-1.
How often do teams from either Kentucky or North Carolina win the national championship? A total of 26 times, including three out of the last four seasons. All-time, a team from either state has won the championship 35 percent of the time.
