College football Week 8 lines: South Carolina- Florida spread holding tight at a field goal

October 15, 2012

Week 8 point spreads for college football were released over the weekend, and we’ve provided all the updated lines (along with openers in parentheses) below.

A few notable point spreads and line movements:

  • Florida, which came in second in the first edition of BCS standings, has a couple very tough games in the next two weeks. The Gators are 3-point home favorites against ninth-ranked South Carolina this weekend and will likely have a similar spread against No. 13 Georgia next weekend.
  • No. 12 Florida State was a 17.5-point favorite against in-state rival Miami, but that spread is off the board and could rise even further now that Hurricanes quarterback Stephen Morris might sit out with a sprained ankle.
  • Western Kentucky, the nation’s only 6-0 ATS team and riding a 15-game ATS winning streak dating back to last season, opened as a 1.5-point home favorite against Louisiana-Monroe and has since been bet up to -2.5.
  • It’s no longer a Battle of the Unbeatens in the Big 12, but fourth-ranked Kansas State went from a 4- to 3-point underdog at No. 17 West Virginia.
  • The only favorite to flip was No. 18 Texas Tech, which went from a 2.5-point underdog to (currently) 2-point favorite at TCU.
  • Arizona State, off to a 5-1 ATS start, went from a 10.5- to 10-point home underdog to second-ranked Oregon on Thursday Night Football. The undefeated Ducks are beating opponents by 29 points per game but are still just 2-4 ATS.
