UPDATE: Cowherd revealed the results of his Mile Challenge on Thursday morning. He ran it in 6:11, 19 seconds faster than his goal and 21 seconds faster than the over/under at BetOnline.
Colin Cowherd is going to attempt to run the mile in less than 6 minutes, 30 seconds, and not many of his ESPN colleagues are confident he can do it.
In a successful attempt at humor, BetOnline released an over/under for Cowherd’s time in the mile, which will air on Thursday.
Not coincidentally, Cowherd estimated his time would be exactly 6:32 during his show on Monday. After his producer poked fun at him for doubting himself, Cowherd responded that 6:32 was “20 seconds faster” than he thought he was capable of running the mile.
Then there’s this training video, which hit YouTube six days ago.
Judging by my excellent treadmill watching skills, I’m gonna guess Cowherd’s trotting at about an 8:20 pace in that video. He’s gonna have to ramp it up to break 6:30, but he doesn’t seem like the type of guy who would do a challenge like this if he wasn’t confident he could succeed.
My pick: Under.
*Notes: 1) h/t to @DavidPurdum for bringing this up on his blog. 2) The max for the bet at BetOnline is $50.
