New York’s Stanley Cup odds have shifted more than any other team after Monday’s 5-0 victory over the Capitals. The Rangers opened at 24/1 when the playoffs began, and the current odds are 8/1.

Only the Red Wings (15-1) and Senators (14-1) have seen similar moves.

For the second straight postseason, the Pittsburgh Penguins are favored to win the Stanley Cup.

Maybe they’ll have better luck this time around.

The NHL’s regular season is only two weeks old, and yet one-fifth of the schedule is already in the books.

Because of the extended offseason lockout, each team will play only 48 games, turning the traditional marathon into a leaguewide sprint, with each game taking on more importance. A quick peek at the Divisional futures odds reveals just how quickly things can change.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have the highest over/under point total at 61.5, and the New York Rangers are close behind at 60.5. Last year’s Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings are at 58.5. This year’s bottom-feeder team: Columbus Blue Jackets (47.5).
