BTB’s college football podcast: When to attempt ‘middles’ & Week 1 game breakdowns

August 30, 2012

College football kickoff is here.

The college football podcast enters its third week, and this might have been the best episode yet. There were no audio issues to speak of, and the game breakdowns are finally relevant since we actually, um, have games to watch.

In this edition, hosts Adam Burke and Matt Lindeman discuss middling (and when to attempt them) and also breakdown a handful of games, including Clemson-Auburn and Michigan-Alabama.

Show schedule

1:10 — Middling. How do you determine when to try to “middle” a game at halftime if the opportunity presents itself?

10:45 — Clemson-Auburn. Lindeman: “This is a game that I’ve been looking at for a month now. I think a lot of people are expecting Clemson to bounce back after last year’s bowl debacle, but I’m not sure if they can do it.”

18:25 — Michigan-Alabama. Burke: “Michigan can’t outrun Alabama the way they outran teams in the Big Ten.”

24:45 — Virginia Tech-Georgia Tech. Is the ‘under’ a solid play?

30:35 — Kentucky-Louisville. Lindeman: “I think this game sets up well for Kentucky.”

36:30 — Nevada-California. Burke: “Will Nevada play any defense?”
